The Database Administrator will be responsible for managing PostgreSQL, MariaDB, and MySQL production databases. The role includes performance monitoring, tuning, implementing improvements, and ensuring database security. The candidate will also support change management, compliance, and participate in an on-call support rotation.

Job Responsibilities:

- Solve business problems using technical knowledge and professional concepts.
- Evaluate technology effectiveness through requirements gathering, testing, and research.
- Recommend improvements for increased performance and efficiency.
- Implement and maintain PostgreSQL, MariaDB, and MySQL production databases.
- Monitor database activities, performance, and growth.
- Perform tuning and manage security configurations.
- Support patching, backup/recovery, access management, upgrades, and replication tasks.
- Automate tasks using scripts for monitoring, export/import, and reporting.
- Use change management tools to log and track all system/database changes.
- Apply fixes and perform repairs on database infrastructure.
- Ensure security and compliance in all database-related decisions.
- Collaborate with application owners and DBAs for compliance adherence.
- Participate in on-call support (2 weeks on, 4 weeks off rotation) and monthly maintenance windows.

Required Skills:

- 5+ years of general database administration experience.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, MariaDB, and MySQL.
- Expertise in patching, backup/recovery, access control, and data replication.
- Strong scripting abilities for automation (monitoring, import/export, reports).
- Familiarity with change management systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot and fix database infrastructure issues.
- Awareness of security and compliance standards in DB operations.
- Collaboration with various stakeholders to enforce compliance.

Preferred Skills:

- 2+ years of experience with Oracle databases.
- Experience with Veritas NetBackup.
- Experience managing databases in Linux environments.
- Performance tuning expertise.
- Knowledge of HashiCorp Terraform.
- Scripting in Python, Bash, KSH, etc.
- Familiarity with JIRA and Confluence.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or a related field (preferred).
