Overview

A Postdoctoral Fellow/Research Associate position is available in the Vu Lab based in the Terry Fox Laboratory, BC Cancer, and the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of British Columbia, working on a project investigating the role of RNA modifications and translation control in pathogenesis of leukemia.

Responsibilities

- Contribute to a research program focused on post-transcriptional and translational regulation during normal and malignant hematopoiesis, with emphasis on leukemia.
- Design and perform experiments in molecular and cell biology, including the use of animal models, and analyze data related to RNA biology and bioinformatics where applicable.
- Collaborate with team members and supervise undergraduate/graduate students as needed.
- Contribute to manuscript preparation and presentations.

Qualifications

- PhD or MD/PhD degree; for the Research Associate position: three years of postdoctoral experience.
- Solid knowledge and research experience in molecular and cell biology, stem cell/cancer biology; expertise in animal models and, in particular, hematology and leukemia are assets.
- A strong background in RNA biology and bioinformatics is highly desirable.
- Ability to work independently, conceive, initiate, organize and manage projects, and supervise undergraduate/graduate students.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.

Salary

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
