Job Title - Postdoctoral Fellow

Employee Type - Term (Fixed Term)-Possibility of Extension

Time Type - Full-time

The fellow would have the opportunity to work with community partners in rural BC, in urban settings (with immigrant populations) and hospital environments (namely the Surrey Memorial Hospital NICU-partnering with Ronald MacDonald House). There would be opportunities to work closely with experts and students in the fields of human-computer interaction and user-design (University College of Dublin, Ireland), as well as computer and electronic engineers at UBC, University California Irvine (UCI), and University of Turku (UTU), Finland.

Responsibilities will include:

- Co-lead community engagement activities (Meet and Greet sessions, workshops, etc.)
- Regularly update community partners
- Periodically assist in other projects
- Prepare materials and sessions for ongoing knowledge translation
- Lead analysis of focus groups and interviews
- Writing academic papers based on above activities
- Writing grants to support their own Postdoctoral training (leading to extension of position)
- Assist in supervision of graduate students
- Other duties as required

Job Qualifications:

- Completed a Ph.D. within the last 5 years (or shortly expect to complete) in a relevant discipline (e.g. nursing, social work, human-computer interaction, sociology, or anthropology)
- Demonstrated experience with qualitative research
- Demonstrated experience working with vulnerable communities/individuals, families, and children
- Strong writing skills, experience with publishing professional journal articles, including first authored papers
- Experience with project management (creating project charters, schedules, project management plans) is considered an asset.
