Foran Mining is a modern mining development and exploration company advancing Canada's only greenfield copper project currently under construction: the McIlvenna Bay deposit in Saskatchewan. With commercial production expected in mid-2026, this world-class deposit contains copper, zinc, gold, and silver – key metals for the global transition to green energy. At Foran, we are committed to sustainable development, environmental protection, and building strong communities. We believe in empowering our people, fostering a culture of growth, and creating opportunities for meaningful careers as we build the mines of the future.
The Instrumentation / OT Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing the instrumentation and operational technology (OT) systems, including process control networks, field instrumentation, SCADA systems, and industrial communication protocols. This role ensures the efficient operation of automated systems within a mining or industrial environment and works closely with operations and maintenance teams to ensure reliable and safe operations.
Job Responsibilities
- Install, calibrate, maintain, and repair field instruments (pressure, flow, temperature, level).
- Troubleshoot instrumentation issues impacting control and performance.
- Inspect and test instrumentation to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Maintain and troubleshoot OT systems (SCADA, PLCs, HMIs, etc.).
- Monitor and manage industrial control network (ICN) security and function.
- Support OT/IT integration and cybersecurity alignment.
- Work with engineers to optimize control loops and instrumentation.
- Configure and tune control systems to improve performance.
- Maintain instrumentation and OT records, including calibration logs.
- Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and company standards.
- Help develop and maintain instrumentation and control procedures.
- Support instrumentation and automation in capital and maintenance projects.
- Assist with commissioning and start-up of new systems and equipment.
- Support upgrades from legacy systems to modern platforms.
- Provide technical support and training on instrumentation and OT.
Job Qualifications and Skills
- Diploma or degree in Instrumentation, Automation, or related field.
- 3+ years’ experience in instrumentation/control systems in industrial or mining settings.
- Proficient with PLCs, SCADA, DCS, and field instrumentation.
- Strong knowledge of Modbus, Profibus, and Ethernet/IP protocols.
- Skilled in troubleshooting, diagnostics, and industrial automation software.
- Understanding of OT cybersecurity practices.
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive Hourly Rate: $48.90/hr with an additional 10% annual bonus.
- 100% Employer paid Health, Dental, Vision, Life and Long-term disability Insurance.
- RSP with company match.
- Camp-based position with travel support.
Foran is committed to building a skilled and diverse workforce as we move into our next phase of growth. Indigenous applicants are encouraged to self-declare when submitting applications and resumes. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, you must be legally able to work in Canada.
The McIlvenna Bay Project site is a drug and alcohol-free workplace. Due to the safety-sensitive nature of this position and the remote work environment, candidates must successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment, which includes drug and alcohol testing, as a condition of employment.
