Bird is a place where you will unlock your potential and achieve your goals.In support of upcoming projects, Bird Construction is reaching out to market to identify candidates interested in Senior Project Manager position. Reporting to the HSE Manager, the HSE Coordinator will work to ensure compliance with Bird Construction Health, Safety and Environment Management Program, Occupational Health and Safety legislation, and the client site-specific requirements. This position is based on-site in Victoria, BC.# What You Will Be Working On* Support site supervision with implementation and management of the Bird Safety Program.* Collaboratively work with site leadership to develop and facilitate an overall proactive safety culture on the work site.* Act as a resource to field personnel to provide coaching, mentoring, and advice on all HSE related matters.* Ensure that hazards associated with the work site are identified, documented, and controlled.* Ensure all incidents on the worksite are reported, investigated, and documented in accordance with Bird Construction and client requirements, and corrective action plans are implemented.* Maintain site HSE statistics.* Assist in the planning and startup of new projects with respect to site-specific safe work practices and procedures.* Develop and maintain an HSE communication bulletin board to ensure required documentation is readily available for review.* Ensure that safety equipment and required personal protective equipment is in place as required, and any equipment with deficiencies is removed from service and repaired or replaced.* Facilitate toolbox and safety meetings and assist action items brought up in the HSE meetings as required.* Ensure Bird Construction and client safe work practices, policies, and procedures are reviewed regularly through toolbox and safety meetings.* Maintain field presence and document daily observations.* Review field level hazard assessments, hazard identification, observation, and inspection forms daily to ensure completion and accuracy.* Liaise between client and crew to discuss HSE concerns.* Perform work site inspections in accordance with Bird Construction and client requirements.* Facilitate orientation and training for site staff and maintain accurate records of information.* Assist in the administration, documentation and management of the Company’s COR program.* Keep management current on the status of any issue(s) that may have an impact on the work being performed.* Other responsibilities as requested by the site management.# What we are Looking For* OH&S certificate or diploma from a post-secondary institution (BCIT, UofA, UNB, UFRED, or similar). Equivalencies will be considered.* Hold a valid Level 2 or 3 First Aid certificate.* CSO Designation is considered an asset.* 3-5 years’ HSE experience, preferably in a construction environment* Valid Drivers License and Clean Driver’s Abstract* End-User Fall Protection, Confined Space Entry & Monitor, Standard First Aid considered an asset* Available to work out of town based on project assignments located within Manitoba* Have good working knowledge of local government Health & Safety Acts, Policies, Regulations, and Industry Standards as they apply to the construction industry* Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships with multiple groups* Ability to remain objective and maintain a factual perspective when dealing with questions and inquiries* Sense of urgency and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities, capable of handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environment* Strong analytical, critical thinking, troubleshooting, problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy with attention to detail* Highly developed interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills* Ability to deliver a message to a large group* Ability to work collaboratively with a positive attitude* Understand the dynamics of working with unionize and non-unionized trades.# **We Put Safety First**A healthy and safe work environment is non-negotiable.
