Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Environmental Field Scientist/Engineer to join our team In this role you will contribute to the collection of environmental samples and support site remediation efforts.

What You’ll Be Doing

This is a full‑time field position. The successful candidate will work independently as well as with contractors performing monitoring, sampling and supervision of site investigations and remediation activities principally at active and vacant service stations, bulk plants, distribution terminals and commercial/industrial facilities. They must be able to assume responsibility for the execution of the work.

- Soil sampling during drilling, test pitting and excavation activities.

- Monitoring and groundwater sampling utilizing a wide variety of equipment.

- Soil vapour sampling.

- Supervision of multiple contractors including, but not limited to, drillers, traffic control contractors and excavator operators.

- Operation of various types of equipment (e.g., GPS, data loggers, survey level, combustible gas meters, etc.).

- Completion of field documentation such as job safety analysis (JSA) forms, project field reports, field notes, monitoring and chain‑of‑custody forms in electronic or paper format.

- Work with project coordinators/managers, using interpersonal and organizational skills to ensure projects are completed in accordance with an established scope of work, and on time and budget.

- Mentor and provide technical support to more junior field staff, as required.

- Travel for work out‑of‑town, predominantly within BC, with occasional assignments up to 2 weeks in length that may include weekends and evenings.

- Perform other responsibilities as may be appropriate.

Required Skills You’ll Bring

- Degree in earth sciences, civil, environmental, chemical, geological engineering or similar programs.

- Valid Class 5 driver’s license.

- Experience working on similar facilities or in a construction environment (asset).

- Ability to work independently and as a team.

- Robust physical stamina for long periods of standing, walking on rough surfaces, lifting and bending.

- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow).

- Strong commitment to the safe execution of work.

- Excellent written and oral communication skills.

- Maturity in interaction and ability to operate self‑sufficiently in the field.

- Ability to lead and direct contractors effectively.

Salary Range

$22.69 - $42.21
