Project Accountant

Lucent BioSciences is on a mission to support the transition to sustainability in agriculture with Soileos, a novel micronutrient biofertilizer that increases crop yields, improves soil health, is non-polluting and climate positive.

We are seeking a Vancouver-based Project Accountant to manage Company’s grant claims process, and subsidiary’s bookkeeping. This role will be responsible for the daily bookkeeping, AP, AR, and monthly close process for our subsidiary. Monthly duties will also include maintaining the tracking categories for grants, and creating monthly grant claims.

This is a remote permanent full time position for candidates currently living in the Great Vancouver area.

Salary: $55,000 CAD/year.

Responsibilities and Duties

- Entering daily bookkeeping transactions and accounts payable invoices

- Maintaining a tracking log of sales orders and statuses

- Creating invoices and following up on overdue accounts

- Completing month end schedules and procedures

- Maintaining and adjusting inventory ledgers and accounts

- Creating and maintaining monthly financial and cash flow schedules and reports

- Supporting the year end review engagement

- Process employee expense reports and PO requests, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures

- Review transactions and classing them appropriately based on funding categories

- Creating monthly grant claims to send to funders

- Participate in ad hoc projects and initiatives as required

- Administrative tasks and other duties, as needed

Qualifications

- Associates, diploma or certification in the business/accounting field is an asset

- Experience with inventory management is an asset

- A minimum of 1 year of experience in fully cycle accounting

- Working towards a CPA designation

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Google Sheets

- Accuracy and high attention to detail

- Enjoys working in a collaborative environment and coordinating with your team to juggle multiple competing priorities

- Self-motivated person, fast learner, team player, and creative problem solver

- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

- Thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

- Excellent documentation and organizational skills
