Temporary CustodianThe Custodian, reporting to the Principal, is responsible for providing a safe and clean work environment for staff and students, by performing general cleaning and maintenance duties to the school property and grounds. This 1.0 FTE position is 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM at St. Joseph's School, Stratford from January 12, 2026 to May 8, 2026. The hourly wage is $25.29 per hour plus 4% vacation pay. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Operate cleaning equipment to remove scraps, dirt, heavy debris, etc.Wash windows, interior walls and ceilings.Empty trash cans and other waste containers.Sweep, mop, scrub and wax hallways, floors and stairs.Clean snow and ice from walkways and parking areas.Tend grounds and plants as required by the Principal.Clean and disinfect washrooms, lunchrooms and fixtures.Move furniture, equipment and supplies.May perform minor repairs as required.QUALIFICATIONSPrevious custodial and/or cleaning experience is required;Previous custodial and/or clearing experience in a school environment is an asset;Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform minor repairs;Ability to work as part of a team;Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;Proficient computer skills are required; experience with Google Workspace is an asset.ABOUT US:The (the Board) has nurtured the development of students and families since 1847.
