The Development team is a committed, dedicated group of fundraising and marketing professionals who have a passion to support the mission of House of Friendship throughout Waterloo Region. The Development Team works collaboratively and cooperatively together to support this vital work. The Digital Marketing Specialist will provide key marketing expertise to execute impactful digital marketing strategies designed to enhance donor engagement and support fundraising goals. This role will act as the digital marketing point person, specializing in social media management, digital advertising and email campaigns. The specialist will work collaboratively with the Development team, leveraging insights from data to refine strategies. The Digital Marketing Specialist will also coordinate with outside vendors to develop advanced content creation, such as video production.

This is a permanent, salaried, full-time (37.5 hours per week) position with paid sick time, personal days, vacation time; group health benefits and defined contribution pension plan.

Schedule Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm, with some flexibility based on program needs; including very occasional evening and weekend hours to visit programs and attend signature events.

Valid G class driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle required; travel throughout the Region of Waterloo.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Execute a comprehensive social media strategy to drive engagement and conversions, with a focus on platforms such as Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, and emerging channels.
2. Keep abreast of latest trends and best practices across social media platforms and provide recommendations for improvement.
3. Create and schedule posts, ensuring alignment with fundraising goals and organizational brand guidelines.
4. Collaborate with other Communications team members to create compelling written and visual content.
5. Monitor and respond to audience interactions to foster a strong online community.
6. Plan and monitor/manage email marketing campaigns with guidance from others, including segmentation, A/B testing, and performance analysis, to maximize donor engagement.
7. Collaborate with the Fundraising Coordinator to align email campaigns with broader donor engagement strategies.
8. Plan and monitor/manage digital advertising campaigns ensuring digital optimization across platforms (e.g., Google Ads, Facebook Ads) in collaboration with external agencies, as needed.
9. Update and maintain the organization’s website, ensuring a seamless donor journey and alignment with fundraising campaigns.
10. Work with internal IT and external companies to enhance user experience (UX) and conversion rates.
11. Track key performance metrics across all House of Friendship digital platforms, including website, social media, online advertising and email; generating data-driven insights for improvement and campaign optimization.
12. Provide regular reports on digital performance metrics to the Marketing & Communications Manager and recommend actionable improvements based on performance.
13. Act as a resource for the Development team on digital marketing best practices.
14. Participate in team meetings to ensure digital marketing efforts align with organizational goals.
15. Coordinate with external vendors and freelancers for advanced video production, animation, or graphic design projects.
16. As the digital asset point person for House of Friendship, manage the storage of and access to digital resources, including photos, videos, logos and other graphics.

Job Specific Knowledge/Skills:

4. Strong understanding of digital marketing best practices and trends, particularly in the non-profit sector.
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to craft compelling donor-centric content.
6. Demonstrated ability to build productive and collegial relationships with a wide variety of constituents including colleagues, donors, volunteers, participants and community partners, demonstrating excellent interpersonal and team collaboration skills.
7. Strong knowledge and understanding of Google Analytics 4, Google AdWords, social media platforms including Facebook, X, Instagram and LinkedIn, as well as Wordpress Elementor, Hootsuite and Canva.
8. Proficiency in tracking and interpreting analytics using tools like Google Analytics, Google Ads, and social media insights.
9. Strong understanding of website management and best practices.
10. Experience with video creation and editing an asset.
11. Experience with Constant Contact an asset.

Education/Experience:

1. Post-secondary degree or diploma in Marketing, Communications, or related field.
2. A minimum of 2 years' experience in digital marketing, including social media management, email marketing, and digital advertising.

5. Experience with and commitment to using an anti-racism, anti-oppressive and trauma informed approach to consultation, program design, evaluations of processes and service delivery.
6. Must be dependable, professional, flexible, a team player, and have a positive attitude.
7. Respectful, supportive and engaging approach to persons with physical and/or cognitive disabilities, addictions, mental illness and other life challenges.
8. Excellent project, timeline and deadline management skills, including skills in logistics, planning and detailed record keeping.

House of Friendship compensation practices including our pay grid, have been developed using documented leading pay practices in the not-for-profit sector including Pathways to Decent Work (Ontario Nonprofit Network) and Ontario Living Wage Network. We value the experience that new team members bring to the organization and have a process in place to review previous related experience for placement on our pay grid.

1. Time off includes three (3) weeks of vacation, 5 personal days and sick credits totaling approximately 12 days per year.

Rate of Pay:

At House of Friendship all compensation ranges are categorized under a series of “grades” and we base our payment structure on internal equity. When determining rate of pay, a candidate’s past related experience will be taken into consideration.

Grade: 4

Min: $22.18

Mid: $25.40

Max: $28.61

Working Conditions:

1. 37.5 hours per week, generally daytime, weekday hours.
2. Occasional evening and weekend work to support House of Friendship signature events or capturing video and photo content at program activities.
3. Encountering participants at program sites who may be under the influence of alcohol or other, and/or experiencing symptoms of mental illness can be expected.
4. Hybrid work options are available, with a mix of in-office and remote work.
