Description
The Spanish Studies program in the Department of Italian, Spanish, Portuguese & Latin American Studies seeks a sessional lecturer from January 1st, 2026 to April 30th, 2026 for the following course:
SPA 420 H1 S: Advanced Spanish Grammar
This course guides students through advanced linguistic analysis with the objective of improving students' command of Spanish grammar. Advanced review of traditional grammatical topics, including the verbal and pronominal systems, Spanish copulas, and embedded clauses.

Class schedule: Tuesday, 17:00 – 20:00 in NF
The delivery method for this course is currently in person. Please note that, in keeping with the public health advisories, the course delivery method may change as determined by the Faculty of Arts & Science.
Sessional dates of appointment: January 1, 2026 to April 30, 2026
Salary (including vacation pay)
$9,820.70 (Sessional Lecturer I) - $10,510.03 (Sessional Lecturer I Long Term)
$10,510.03 (Sessional Lecturer II) - $10,760.28 (Sessional Lecturer II Long Term)
$10,760.28 (Sessional Lecturer III) - $11,030.36 (Sessional Lecturer III Long Term)
Minimum qualifications
- Ph.D. in Hispanic Linguistics or related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a sole‑responsibility course instructor in university settings.
- Proven track record of excellence in teaching in the subject area of the course.
- Familiarity with Canvas / Quercus.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience teaching Spanish language and linguistics.
- Expertise in Spanish morphosyntax.
Description of duties
All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content. Holding regular office hours in person and via email, in addition to in‑person class meetings. Development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams; calculation and submission of grades.
