Industrial Project Manager

What YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION:

- Manage profitability of industrial E/P/C projects, by ensuring that appropriate cost and schedule controls are utilized.

- Work closely with Engineering, Quality, Project Controls, Project Accounting and the Proposals and Estimating Departments and with site Construction Management teams to ensure that each project is managed in accordance with design, budget, schedule and contractual requirements.

- Plans, organizes and directs all design engineering, procurement, system installation, and commissioning activities for projects.

- Manage revenue, costs and gross margin against cost estimate for industrial and commercial projects.

- Monitors project financial status and controls costs during execution to maintain profit margins.

- Ensures that schedules are maintained and the projects proceed in accordance with the contract documents and customer expectations.

- Promote a safety first culture.

- Ability to manage professional teams (Large Projects and disciplines)

- Establishes customer relationship at appropriate level and manages expectations relative to scope, price and schedule. Captures scope change and effectively communicates and negotiates this to the customer.

- Exercises decisions independently, thoughtfully and weighing appropriate risks

- Oversees the timely invoicing for an assigned project and ensures all monies are collected in an acceptable time frame.

- Verifies scope of work definition for assigned projects and ensures that the executed contract documents accurately reflect that which was portrayed in the commercial quotation.

- Ability to create new methods, strategies and processes to support success of the project.

- Manage all site procurement and material handling activities for assigned projects – including the preparation of material requisitions.

- Proactively establish professional client relationships at an appropriate level and manage client expectations relative to technical execution methodologies, scope, cost, schedule, and change management.

- Mentor new engineers and provide them with technical training and guidance.

- Technical design review/analysis as needed.

You have:

- Engineering Bachelor’s Degree required, technical degree (engineering) preferred.

- Position will require travel to customer sites throughout Fort McMurray region ~ 30% of the year

- Previous experience in or with:

- 15+ years of Project Management Experience in Engineering or Construction

- Exposure to Heat Tracing technology is an asset.

- Skills:

- Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to present and influence views in a clear and compelling manner

- Knowledge of the engineering, maintenance and/or operations experience at a petrochemical facility or industrial site.

- Microsoft Office and reporting/scheduling software (P6, Microsoft Project, Access, etc.)
