Labour and Employment Associate Lawyer – Calgary
Job Reference ID: MLTA- CAL-202412-068
Location: Calgary Position: Associate
MLT Aikins is a full-service law firm of more than 300 lawyers and nearly 500 additional team members across the four western provinces. Named one of Canada’s best law firms by the Globe and Mail, MLT Aikins is the only law firm to have offices in Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Saskatoon, Regina and Winnipeg. As one of the largest firms in Canada, we have the bench strength and geographic scope to meet the increasingly complex needs of clients.
Our established labour and employment practice in Calgary is searching for an energetic, motivated and client-focused professional to join our team.
Job Summary
Candidates should have three or more years of experience in several areas of labour and employment law (in both provincial and federal spheres). This includes employee discipline and termination, wrongful and constructive dismissal claims, human rights and the duty to accommodate, employment contract drafting and policy development, arbitrations, Labour Relations Board matters, occupational health and safety, and privacy. The ideal candidate has experience providing day-to-day advising to assist employers to navigate the legal and practical business issues that arise in these areas in a timely way.
In addition to a proven track record of solid legal ability, the successful candidate must be excited to engage in client development, demonstrate the importance of providing excellent and responsive legal services, and share our passion to continue building Western Canada’s law firm and all the personal and professional opportunities that entails.
Our Diversity Statement

Our principles of diversity, equity and inclusion create a space for everyone to collaborate, allowing us to deliver excellent, and increasingly innovative, legal service to our clients. We encourage individuals of a diverse group (disability, members of visible minorities, Indigenous persons, individuals of diverse gender and sexual orientation) to apply to our job postings when they become available.
If you’re interested in joining MLT Aikins, please submit your cover letter and resumé to careers@mltaikins.com. We thank all applicants for their interest in this position; however, only applicants selected for an interview will be contacted.
