The Manager, Special Projects, Tax is a strategic operations role within our Tax practice. You will lead high-impact, Tax-focused and cross-functional initiatives to drive operational excellence, process consistency, and efficiency, aligning with firmwide strategy and digital transformation goals. This role partners closely with Tax leadership and enabling functions to enhance service delivery and scale sustainable improvements. What you will doStrategic stakeholder managementPartner with Tax leadership, key stakeholders, and enabling functions to identify, prioritize, and execute high-impact strategic initiativesDevelop and deliver clear communications and updates to senior leadership and steering committees on project progress, key findings, and recommendationsCurrent state assessment and diagnostic reviewsConduct deep-dive assessments of current processes, technology use, and resource deployment across the Tax practiceQuantify improvement opportunities and help support business cases for changeProcess improvement and standardizationEngage with key stakeholders and service line focus groups to assess current processes, identifying strengths, pain points, inconsistencies, and opportunities for improvementPartner with technology and innovation teams to leverage digital tools, automation, and analytics in achieving efficiency gainsFuture state design and implementationDefine the desired end state for key Tax processes and service models, ensuring alignment with firm strategy and digital transformation objectivesDevelop actionable roadmaps for transition, including milestones, resource requirements, and change management considerationsProject leadership and deliveryDevelop project charters, work plans, and success metrics in collaboration with sponsors and stakeholdersEnsure sustainability of improvements through effective governance, measurement, and continuous improvement mechanismsChange management and communicationDrive adoption of new processes and tools through clear communication, engagement, and training initiativesAnticipate and manage resistance to change through proactive stakeholder engagement and problem resolution What you bring to the roleBachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, operations, or a related fieldDemonstrated experience leading complex, cross-functional projects in a professional services environment, with a focus on operational excellence, process improvement, or tax function transformationProven ability to conduct current-state assessments and quantify improvement opportunities, including building business cases for changeStrong stakeholder management and communication skills, including presenting to senior leadership and steering committeesExpertise in process design and implementation with effective governance and measurement to ensure sustainabilityChange management capability, including driving adoption, training, and managing resistance to change.Proficiency with project management tools and methodologiesProficiency with process mapping and analysis; comfort working with data/analytics to quantify improvement opportunitiesFamiliarity with digital enablement/automation concepts applicable to Tax operations; experience with collaboration tools and productivity softwareProficiency in English at a business level is required.This position requires written and oral fluency in English. The successful candidate may be required to support or collaborate with English-speaking colleagues or stakeholders while at KPMG. KPMG BC Region Pay Range Information The expected base salary range for this position is $74,000 to $111,000 and may be eligible for bonus awards. The determination of an applicant’s base salary within this range is based on the individual’s location, skills & competencies, and unique qualifications.
