Beamish Construction is looking for a hardworking, self-motivated employee with a proven record of safety and reliability to fill the position of Asphalt Preservation Supervisor in Sudbury, ON. This position will require a high level of motivation, professionalism, independence, and understanding of asphalt preservation and maintenance. This is a full-time permanent position available with competitive wages and a benefits package.

JOB DUTIES

- Receive, prioritize, plan and oversee daily asphalt and paving activities with responsibility for labourers and paving crews, providing real time guidance and direction.

- Schedule labour and equipment for asphalt related work, such as: raking, smoothing and tamping related to the pavement, re-surfacing and repair.

- Coordinate and confirm on-site measuring and truck coordination for asphalt supply.

- Ensure work is done safely and established safety practices are strictly followed.

- Conduct regular inspections of paving work and materials to identify and address issues.

- Ensure accurate record keeping of daily work records, invoices, and timesheets.

- Train and/or coach less experienced operators or labourers on the crew.

- Must be able to work shifts including days, nights, and weekends when required.

- Frequent travel to job sites with overnight stays as required throughout the construction season.

- Display professionalism toward our company and customers.

- Must maintain a clean and tidy work environment and equipment.

- Work in accordance with all internal, client and regulated health and safety policies, procedures and/or regulations, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

- Perform related duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education

- Minimum three (3) years’ experience in the paving and road construction industry is considered an asset.

- Prior experience with Micro surfacing, Slurry seal, and/or Surface Treatment is considered an asset.

- Valid G class driver’s license is required.

- Construction-related post-secondary education or equivalent experience is considered an asset.

- Minimum of one (1) year experience in a leadership role in the construction industry is considered an asset.

- High school diploma or equivalent is considered an asset.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

- Familiar with all aspects of paving and road construction.

- Understanding of surface treatment, slurry seal, and micro surfacing.

- Familiar with safety regulations and industry standards.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.

- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints and scopes of work.

- Excellent attention to detail, as well as strong communication, analytical and interpersonal skills.

- Strong leadership skills with the ability to identify performance gaps, coaching and mentoring the paving crew to encourage efficiency and teamwork.

- Ability to adapt to last-minute changes as dictated by the needs of our customers.

- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.

- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
