We are currently looking for an Intermediate Accountant to join our accounting team, starting immediately.
Position Summary
Working in a small team, the Intermediate Accountant will be responsible for performing daily, weekly, and monthly bookkeeping tasks and assisting other finances and office related deliverables.The ideal candidate is someone who is a good communicator and has excellent time management and attention to detail skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing monthly reconciliation of bank accounts, balance sheet, income statement accounts
- Posting journal entries, invoicing, and contract and vendor management
- Preparing sales commission reports for payroll
- Maintain up to date bank balances to support cash planning
- Prepare and submit GST/HST/PST tax returns and supporting documentation
- Ensuring compliance with necessary governing bodies relating to sales tax and environmental fees
- Review and maintain accounting schedules including fixed assets, continuity and depreciation, amortizations, prepaid authorizations, revenue allocations etc.
- Assisting with accounts payable and accounts receivable where required
- Troubleshooting and assisting other employees with accounting related inquiries
- Assist with preparation of annual working papers
- Ensure continuous quality improvement and compliance with financial policies and procedures, as well as internal controls.
- Assist with other accounting projects as required
Qualifications
- University degree/diploma required (concentration in accounting) and enrollment in CPA program is a bonus
- 2-5 years accounting experience which includes AR, AP and GL
- Ability to organize, plan, and prioritize work
- Works well as part of a team and willing to be a supportive team player
- Excellent data entry skills, including attention to detail and accuracy
- Demonstrated computer literacy, with high proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience using an accounting software
- Experience with Netsuite One World is an asset
