Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Unit Admin Specialist for the Psychology department within the School of Arts & Sciences. The Hurst Lab, established in September 2023 and fully opened in Summer 2024, is seeking a Unit Admin Specialist. The individual in this position will play critical roles in the Hurst lab, at all levels of a research project.

Key Duties

- Performs experiments measuring and manipulating people's proportional reasoning ability and strategies across various contexts, using online and in-person experimental protocols with children and adults.
- Annotates videos of infants participating in asynchronous research studies. This requires substantial person-time to manually add looking-behavior annotations to videos, as this is not an automated process. It requires high attention to detail from well-trained research personnel.
- Analyzes data collected following the above two processes (collection and coding). This includes maintaining high organization of data and analysis, including managing data, creating data analysis pipelines, and creating and maintaining code-books.
- Creates and maintains well-commented analysis code.
- Contributes to the writing of scientific reports based on the findings from experimental studies. This includes writing original drafts, reading the literature, and providing revisions/feedback on others' drafts.
- Creates study protocols for new studies.
- Develops experimental stimuli and materials.
- Provides feedback on lab projects.
- Communicates appropriately within the lab to other study personnel, and externally (e.g., business office, IACUC, REHS).
- Writes and maintains relevant IRB protocols.
