Work environment Aircraft Services Directorate (ASD) is located at the Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport. Our office is at 200 Comet Private, Ottawa ON.
Intent of the process Stream 1: Aircraft Maintenance Engineer - Fixed Wing; Stream 2: Aircraft Maintenance Engineer - Rotary Wing; Stream 3: Aircraft Maintenance Engineer - Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS). The immediate intent of this process is to staff Aircraft Maintenance Engineers for Rotary Wing and/or Fixed Wing in Ottawa, Ontario. A pool of qualified candidates may be established to staff similar or identical EG-06 positions with various language proficiencies (English Essential or Bilingual Imperative BBB/BBB) within Aircraft Services in Ottawa, Ontario.

- Security: Secret security clearance.
- Other (for all positions): Possession of a valid driver’s licence; Possession of a valid passport.
- For some positions: Successful completion of medical examinations as prescribed by Health Canada; Willing and able to undertake initial and update dunker training (also known as underwater escape training (UET) or helicopter underwater egress training (HUET)); Willingness to travel to repair/return to service an unserviceable aircraft that is away from base; Willing and able to travel for extended periods up to six weeks at a time aboard Canadian Coast Guard or Government of Canada Ships in Coastal Waterways.

- Willingness and ability to undertake training to maintain or upgrade knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Willingness and ability to work in a flexible environment on a variable day work and/or shift work schedule, including weekends and some standby on the employee’s days of rest.
- Willingness and ability to work in various positions on aircraft, in the hangar, and in a non-hangered environments, which may involve standing, kneeling, lying, and sitting as well as crawling into confined spaces and climbing elevated maintenance stands.
You need (essential for the job)
Your application must clearly explain how you meet the following
- Education: Successful completion of a recognized post-secondary school program in aircraft maintenance or an acceptable combination of education, training, and experience deemed equivalent for the position.
- Occupational Certification: Possession of a valid Canadian Aircraft Maintenance Engineer category License M1, or M2, or M1 and M2.
- Experience: Recent and significant experience as a licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer maintaining fixed or rotary wing aircraft. Significant experience means at least 3 years of relevant experience. Recent is defined as within the last 5 years. Stream 1 requires fixed wing aircraft experience; Stream 2 requires rotary wing aircraft experience; and Stream 3 requires either fixed or rotary wing aircraft experience.
- Abilities: A1: Ability to communicate effectively orally. A2: Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
- Competencies: C1: Demonstrating integrity and respect. C2: Thinking things through. C3: Working effectively with others. C4: Showing initiative and being action-oriented.

Asset experience
- Experience or training in maintenance for one or more of the following aircraft types: Bombardier Challenger 600/601/604/650/RJ; De Havilland Dash-7/Dash-8 Series; Bell 412; Bell 429; Bombardier Global Series.
- Experience or training on Class 1/2/3 Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS).
- Ability to interpret technical instructions and drawings.
