About the Opportunity

The NS Health Learning Institute for Health Care Providers within Interprofessional Practice and Learning (IPP&L) plays a leadership role in creating a culture of learning focused on transition to specialty practice programs and continuing professional practice development. The Nurse Educator is responsible for program and curriculum design: assessing, planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating learning and education programs. The Nurse Educator promotes a culture of excellence in competency-based education to enable successful transition to practice and learner-centred outcomes.

Specific functional areas of responsibility include:

- Learning & Education
- Workforce Planning & Optimization
- Interprofessional orientation, transition to practice & learner progression
- Learning & Education Evaluation

This position supports the Critical Care Paramedic Program with a focus on blended learning. Periodic travel within Nova Scotia is required, and a valid driver's license and access to transportation are necessary.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

- Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Science in Nursing required
- Master's Degree in Nursing, Education or related discipline required (consideration will be given to applicants currently pursuing a Master's Degree)
- Active practicing license with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing required
- Minimum three (3) years' full-time nursing experience within the last 5 years in Critical Care and/or Emergency Nursing required
- Previous teaching experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating non-traditional methods of theoretical clinical course instruction required
- Certificate course or CNA certification in Critical Care and/or Emergency Nursing required
- Certificate in Basic Life Support-C required
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) provider is an asset
- Certificate course in adult education and/or leadership development education or equivalency required
- Current experience with program and curriculum design and revision of classroom, skill/simulation, and online teaching required
- Previous preceptor experience required
- Demonstrated recent professional development relevant to maintaining currency in practice and education
- Demonstrated ability to apply learning and educational theories in program design and assessment strategies required

Hours

Long Assignment, Full-Time (75 hours bi-weekly)

Compensation and Benefits

$52.46 - $63.36 hourly
$102,302 - $123,555 annually
$65.58 hourly ($127,880 annually) with 25 years' nursing experience.

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
