Your Opportunity
Stantec is seeking a Senior Project Manager (PM) to join our Program Management team. The PM ensures the success of assigned projects through client engagement, leadership and team management. You will focus on managing project/program activities, expectations, and risk, while leading, supporting, and/or advising clients throughout all stages of the project life cycle. You will have a sound knowledge of the construction industry, project management functions, tools and systems and be able to prioritize and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Your Key Responsibilities
1. Obtain a solid understanding and working competency of Stantec technical systems and business processes.
2. Actively manage diverse capital projects of varying size and complexity across any of the Stantec sectors.
3. Inspire confidence with your direct reports with respect to your project management skills and leadership abilities.
4. Oversee the performance of your direct reports and provide coaching, mentoring and leadership in support of their career development.
5. Engage with clients and obtain client feedback on our performance.
6. Raise our team's profile in the industry and help establish your reputation as an expert within Stantec. This includes presenting at conferences or events.
7. Assist with developing the annual business plan and budget for the team.
8. Lead targeted major project pursuits in collaboration with other senior staff.
9. Assist in team engagement and morale that is demonstrated by incremental improvement in corporate team survey results.
10. Assist in resource management, recruitment, and succession planning to support the growth of our team.
11. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and the HSE management system on assigned projects.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
1. Owner's Representative and multi-disciplinary team leadership experience are essential to the role. Knowledge and experience in niche areas such as sustainability and innovation, which are key elements of our Strategic Plan, are considered an asset.
2. Involvement on projects delivered under a wide range of procurement methods (including DB, PDB, P3, CM etc.) is preferred.
3. Strong leadership skills & the ability to move a team forward.
4. Ability to manage project stakeholders by speaking clearly and persuasively with exceptional interpersonal skills.
5. Detail-oriented, dependable, and able to perform well under the pressure of deadlines.
6. Adapts to a dynamic project environment and able to manage multiple tasks over an extended period.
7. Solid verbal and written communication skills.
8. Proactively Identifies project risks and determines their impact on the project with a proven ability to mitigate or resolve in a timely manner.
9. Demonstrated ability to work successfully with clients, internal teams and contractors.
10. Strong computer literacy in scheduling, word processing, presentation and spreadsheet software.
11. Experience with budget management in a package or custom software.
12. Strong understanding of design and construction process and requirements.
13. Understanding of plans, contracts and specifications.
14. Exceptional organizational skills and problem-solving abilities.
15. Believes in developing trust and relationship with the project team based on performance.
Education and Experience
1. Bachelor's degree in architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a similar field would be an asset.
2. Ten (10) years of experience across varying sectors, with large, complex infrastructure projects.
3. An equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field may substitute for education only.
4. P.Eng, PMP certification or an equivalent designation would be an asset.
Typical office environment working with computers and a dynamic group of engineers. Field work may be required, and appropriate training and safety equipment will be provided.
