The Associate Accountant plays a crucial role in meeting tight deadlines for closing TAM monthly and delivering essential reports. Responsibilities include reconciling and resolving Federated/Unified Market Accounts Payables and associated commissions promptly. Additionally, managing the preparation, processing, and reconciliation of Direct Bill Commission for Wealth Management. The role also involves addressing inquiries from internal and external partners.
How you will create impact:
- Responsible for closing month end on TAM through the Utilities function and to identify, investigate and correct anomalies in month-end reports.
- Reconciling Accounts Payable statements with general ledger accounts and process adjustments as required. Request, process and distribute payment to vendors.
- Prepare, process and reconcile Direct Bill Commission for Wealth Management ensuring information is complete and accurate.
- Accountable for timely completion of commission uploads to comp hub and follow up to ensure correct data transfer.
- Maintain Agent record by ensuring complete and current information and act as the key contact with the Agency Department.
- Investigate and resolve reconciling items on account reconciliations, consulting with internal and external partners as required.
- Assist in the preparation and compilation of information required for quarterly and year end reconciliations and analysis
- Effectively respond to account and process inquiries from internal and external partners. Provide guidance to co-workers on accounting related issues and coding problems.
- Investigate and resolve TAM related issues identified through reports and month end procedures and respond to general ad hoc queries and analysis as required.
- Assist in recognizing process control and/or efficiency issues in current and proposed work processes.
To join our team:
- Accounting/Business post secondary graduate; or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years accounting or business related experience.
- Specialized knowledge of accounting functions (reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable processes)
- Intermediate to Advance Microsoft office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Previous experience with TAM, Oracle and AS/400 is an asset.
- Broad understanding of property and casualty insurance accounting preferred.
- Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving and decision making skills.
