About Our Client

They are a growing Canadian property management and development company with a diverse portfolio of multi-residential buildings, commercial properties, and hotel assets. They are seeking an experienced Senior Property Management Accountant to join their team and support their expanding operations across Canada.

Position Overview

The Senior Property Management Accountant will be responsible for full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of residential, commercial, and hotel properties. This role requires strong analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, and deep familiarity with property accounting in the Canadian market.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage full-cycle accounting for multi-residential, commercial, and hotel properties

- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports

- Reconcile bank accounts, trust accounts, rent rolls, and revenue streams

- Oversee AP/AR, cashflow updates, and general ledger maintenance

- Monitor operating expenses, capital expenditures, and recoveries

- Prepare year-end working papers and liaise with external accountant

- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis for each property class

- Ensure compliance with Canadian accounting standards and provincial regulations

- Support property managers and senior leadership with financial insights

- Review leases, rental agreements, CAM allocations, and hotel revenue reports

- Supervise accounting support staff

- Improve accounting processes and systems to increase efficiency

Qualifications

- Must be eligible to work in Canada – this is not a remote position

- Minimum 5–7 years of property management accounting experience in Canada

- Experience with multi-residential, commercial, and hotel (hospitality) assets

- Strong understanding of operating cost recoveries, hotel revenue structures, residential rental rules

- Proficiency with property management accounting software (e.g., Yardi or similar)

- Solid Excel skills and ability to work with large datasets

- Accounting designation (CPA) or working toward one preferred

- Strong communication skills and ability to support cross-functional teams

- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple deadlines
