What You'll Do
As a Paralegal, you'll be one of the cornerstones of our team's success. Your proactive, detail-oriented approach will ensure smooth operations and foster collaboration. Here's how you'll make an impact:
Paralegal Support
1. Review contracts, prepare contract amendments, and negotiate confidentiality agreements, to ensure they align with company standards and protect TELUS' legal and business interests
2. Identify non-standard contract provisions and escalate as needed
3. Track restrictive covenants and data privacy obligations to ensure compliance with contracts and applicable laws
4. Review marketing material to ensure legal and regulatory compliance
5. Conduct legal research and summarize findings to assist decision-making
6. Review and assign legal matters as they are submitted
Administrative Support
1. Manage the Vice-President's calendar, travel arrangements, and follow-ups to keep everything running smoothly
2. Prepare meeting materials, presentations, and reports as required
3. Oversee corporate expenses, ensuring accuracy and timely approvals
4. Provide occasional administrative support for urgent matters, outside regular hours, if necessary
5. Enhance productivity through expert document preparation and tools like Adobe Pro and Google Workspace
Collaboration and Process Improvement
1. Identify and implement process improvements to drive operational efficiency
2. Build strong relationships with stakeholders, ensuring seamless communication and support
3. Promote a collaborative, inclusive, and engaging team environment
Qualifications
What You'll Bring
1. Law firm or in-house legal experience with:
1. 2+ years as a Paralegal, or
2. 5+ years as a Legal Assistant or Law Clerk, or
3. a combination of the two
2. A collaborative, client-focused attitude with a passion for process improvement and continuous learning
3. Experience in contract law, policy development, and due diligence
4. Exceptional organizational, prioritization, and time management abilities
5. Outstanding communication and relationship-building skills
6. Strong judgment and confidentiality in handling sensitive matters
7. Proactive problem-solving and adaptability in a dynamic environment
8. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and a willingness to learn other tools that are required to carry out the position
9. Ability to support urgent matters outside regular hours when necessary
Great-to-Haves
1. Familiarity with intellectual property law is an asset
2. Bilingual in English and French (written and spoken)
Advanced knowledge of English is required, because you will, most of the time, interact in English with external parties (clients, suppliers, candidates, external partners, etc.), interact in English with internal parties (colleagues, internal partners, stakeholders, etc.), as part of this position's main responsibilities, given its national scope
Salary Range: $70,000-$104,000
Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan: 10%
