The Manager, Infant & Early Mental Health will foster a comprehensive continuum of mental health services for infants, young children and their families, aimed at strengthening family systems, supporting early development, and enhancing family resilience.

The Manager will lead the Maternal and Infant Mental Health (MIMH) and EarlyON teams and is responsible for the overall planning, direction, and implementation of relationship-focused therapeutic activities to children 0-6 and their caregivers in our community.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

Program Management

- Plan, organize, and manage the delivery of high-quality MIMH & EarlyON programs and services at the Centre.

- Ensure programs are effectively integrated and aligned with the organization’s strategic objectives.

- Lead the needs assessment, development and planning of MIMH & EarlyON programs including recommendations for improvements.

- Build and maintain program partnerships with external agencies and services that align with the Centre’s strategic direction.

- Provides individual, group, conjoint or family psychotherapy, and case management and support services.

- Act as the clinical lead for the integration of Infant & Early Mental Health principles into all program and services at the agency

- Observes and provides training, consultation, and resources to staff on child development, specific program modalities, best practices, strategies to support individualization, and meet the standards identified in the CCA accreditation manual.

Staff Leadership Development

- Lead the multidisciplinary team responsible for providing mental health services to young children (0-6 years old) and their caregivers.

- Hire, train, supervise, coach and evaluate MIMH & EarlyON employees, students and volunteers. Support professional development of supervisors and staff through completion of probationary and annual 360 reviews.

- Provides coaching to staff regarding parent understanding of: pre-natal development; child growth and development; parent-child activities to promote healthy infant attachment.

- Effectively manage the staff in accordance with the Collective Agreement and/or Human Resources Policies.

- Participate as part of a multidisciplinary team to review progress, identify barriers and develop strategies for better assisting families in reaching their goals.

Administration

- Manage program enrollment and anticipate needs for new offerings to support the viability of the program and the Centre.

- Secure funding through grant writing and maintaining relationships with funders and other stakeholders.

Community Development

- Foster strong relationships with community leaders, other organizations, and stakeholders to enhance program offering and reach.

- Represent the Centre at community events, public meetings, and network tables to advocate for program needs and community development.

- Other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

- Master’s Degree in Social Work or Psychology, and registered and a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Services Workers or College of Psychologist of Ontario and or College of Registered Psychotherapist of Ontario (CRPO).

- At least 5 years work experience working in a community-based setting. providing child development support to families, including two years of direct clinical experience in providing therapy services to young children and their families is preferred.

- At least 3 years’ experience supervising a multi-disciplinary team, preferably in a unionized setting, including familiarity with labour relations collective bargaining agreements, and union protocols.

- Certification in Infant Early Mental Health or training specific to infant mental health interventions is preferred.

- Ability to establish, and coach staff to establish, supportive, trusting relationships with young children and their caregivers.

- Experience in human resource management, including recruitment, training and performance management.

- Knowledge of and Experience facilitating groups and therapy models such as CBT, DBT, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Mindfulness, and trauma-informed and attachment-based models.

- Familiarity with accreditation processes and standards, such as those from CCA or similar organizations.

- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills and the ability to solve complex problems creatively and effectively coupled with empathy and compassion is highly valued.

- Experience in financial management, grant-writing and securing funding from various sources.

- Ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders, including government agencies, non-profit, and community members.
