Job Description & Qualification
The Lazaridis School of Business & Economics (Lazaridis School) at Wilfrid Laurier University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in the Accounting area, commencing July 1, 2026. This position is subject to budgetary approval. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Accounting or related field. Candidates near the completion of their Ph.D. are eligible to apply providing the requirements for the Ph.D. degree will be completed within one year. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to excellence in research and scholarship through high quality peer reviewed publications in their areas of expertise. The position is open to all areas of Accounting.
Successful candidates for the position must have:
- Demonstrated research potential in areas that include financial accounting, managerial accounting, assurance, and/or taxation
- Clear potential to develop an independent and robust research program
- Exhibited a capacity for generating scholarly outputs, such as publications, research funding, and engagement in interdisciplinary collaboration, commensurate with the candidate’s level
- Obtained experience or demonstrated an interest in actively participating in the training and mentorship of both graduate and undergraduate students within their research program
- A professional accounting designation is considered an asset, with a Canadian CPA preferred
- The ability to effectively teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels (BBA, Graduate Diploma in Accounting, MBA, and/or PhD)
- Demonstrated desire to contribute to service
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a teaching team to ensure consistency across sections in a multi-section course
- Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively and enhance a culture of inquiry, collegiality and creativity
- Demonstrated ability to communicate the relevance of their research to a business audience
