**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
In collaboration with the Director, the Manager, Accessibility Coaching manages a team of Accessibility Coaches and delegates work to staff. The Manager will work with the Director to make decisions affecting the budget to strive to balance the budget and efficiently utilize the human and financial resources available to meet the needs of Durham College students.

The Manager ensures that the team of Accessibility Coaches in ASC successfully assist students with exceptionalities in identifying a pathway to educational equity and implementing strategies for completion of their college goals. The team of coaches determine reasonable accommodations in consideration of the Ontario Human Rights Commission’s “Guidelines on Accommodating Persons with a Disability” and coach students in building partnerships for success. The incumbent must be knowledgeable about types of exceptionalities, reasonable accommodations for post-secondary education, adaptive technologies, disability legislation and resources. This position requires extensive student contact both one-one and in small groups, dynamic problem-solving, communication and collaboration with college faculty, support staff and administrators as well as contact with community resources, school boards and students’ individual support systems.
- Manages the Accessibility Coaches. This includes training, on-boarding, performance management and supporting the on-going needs of the staff.
- Works closely with Director to ensure a balanced operating budget for the department and financial planning for capital projects and projects.
- Assists the Director in overseeing the day-today operations of the department. This includes records management, and ensuring compliance with Health & Safety requirements, FIPPA, PHIPPA, AODA, etc.
- Administrative duties such as attending management meetings and participation in other college wide activities and or committees. Contributes to establishing and meeting the Strategic Plan and department goals.
- Initiates and conducts Team Meetings and Student Case Consultations among the Accessibility Coaches including other ASC staff as required, regarding student issues, staffing needs or procedural changes/challenges. Recommendations are brought to the Director for approval.
- Determines potential new initiatives/projects in consultation with the team and based on evidence and makes recommendations to the director. Leads the development and delivery of approved projects that require collaboration with other departments on campus.
- Caseload management: Determine eligibility of individual students to access services provided through the ASC based on documentation provided. Documentation includes, but is not limited to psycho-educational assessments, medical documentation and school records. Communicate with health care providers and other community professionals as warranted, ensuring that appropriate documentation has been received and following up for clarification or further information when required and with the student’s permission. Meet with students individually to review documentation related to accommodations, the student’s experience of successful strategies, and the student’s goals.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- A minimum of a 4-year Bachelor of Social Work degree or equivalent for registration with the College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers Association.
