- Reporting to the supervisor of the project, the Employment Advisor will be responsible for providing an _
- employment assessment and making a referral to a prescribed number of new and returning unemployed _
- clients each week using prescribed assessment tools and will assist the clients in preparing a Return to Work _
- Action Plan (RTWAP). The Employment Advisor is also responsible for case managing/administering client _
- files to completion of action plan. _

**Summary of Duties**:
Provide employment advice to a targeted number of clients based upon the contractual

agreement with the funder;
Identify clients’ current situation, relevant employment history, job readiness, feelings, etc.;
Identify clients’ strengths and employment needs;
Identify if client has a career objective;
Develop a Return to Work Action plan with clients using a client centred approach;
Assist clients in completing necessary documentation for skills development training and/or any

into the labour force;
Assess, confirm the need for skills training and make appropriate recommendations, in
accordance with funder training guidelines;
In consultation with the supervisor, determine if psycho-educational or psycho-vocational
assessment is required, and make referral;
Follow funder and TDSB policies and procedures related to client referral;
Case manage clients using electronic and/or case files, as per funder guidelines;
Maintain thorough case files;
Case Conference with project staff, as required, to determine appropriate referrals;
Process fee payer clients according to funder policies;
Provide clients with information regarding funder policies and procedures for benefit protection;
Provide clients with information related to additional program supports/services;
Adhere to privacy and confidentiality requirements;
Liaise with community agencies to provide information;
Develop knowledge about local community agencies, services and resources;
Conduct research and/or attend workshops or conferences to keep current on labour market

trends and conditions;
Conduct off-site assessments, as required;
Other related duties as assigned

**Qualifications**:
Two year Career and Work Counsellor college diploma with one year’s experience in providing a

range of related employment services including coaching and mentoring or an equivalent
combination of education and experience;
Experience developing Return to Work Action Plans;
Knowledge of current labour market conditions and work search strategies;
Familiarity with the needs of the unemployed and understanding all aspects of

employability;
Experience working in government funded projects;
Strong organizational skills and communications skills including presentation skills;
Ability to take initiative, work independently and maintain confidential information in a circumspect

manner;

Ability to communicate effectively with a customer service focus.

**Paid Holiday & Vacation**: Employee entitlement is in accordance with the provisions for Externally
