Vision Truck Group is searching for an experienced Human Resources Manager with drive and determination to support the Human Resources functions and tasks for our multi branch company. The Human Resources Manager will support various programs such as People & Culture, Staff Relations, Benefits, Training & Development, Disability Claims, Corporate Health & Safety. While based at our head office in Cambridge, Ontario, there may be occasional travel to our other branches.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Primary**
- Oversee the work of and provide direction to the Human Resources Department, coach and mentor these employees through ongoing one-on-ones and by providing departmental development opportunities.
- Manage a variety of human resource services, policies and programs that support internal equity and ensure VTG’s competitive advantage. Develop and enforce company policies & procedures
- Sustain and develop knowledge and understanding of existing legislation and ensure compliance with all legislative (i.e. federal and provincial) requirements, labour laws, regulations, etc.
- Research and keep informed of new developments within the human resources’ field and implement changes where needed to ensure competitive advantage and appropriate strategy.

**Recruitment**
- Participate in recruitment and selection, promotions, transfers, contract negotiation, job classification, performance evaluation and employee relations according to policies and procedures.
- Review new ways of attracting top talent and ensure that the Company has an emergency succession plan in place for unforeseen key staffing changes.

**People & Culture (Employee Relations)**
- Identify and address issues that affect the overall health of the organization’s morale, effectiveness, turnover, absenteeism, and productivity.
- Support employee engagement and corporate workplace culture initiatives that benefit organizational performance.

**Staff Relations**
- Review, guide and approve employee suspensions & terminations.
- Monitor all pay practices and systems for effectiveness and cost containment. Evaluate jobs, create job descriptions, and conduct wage reviews.
- Support and educate departmental team leads in providing consultancy for managers on various issues.
- Contribute to development of leadership-focused development strategies including talent and performance management.

**Benefits**
- In conjunction with the Vice President, analyze benefit programs and alternatives and serve as primary contact with service providers.

**Change & Development**
- Provide guidance for change management initiatives and support team through change.
- Forecast and identify emerging issues, trends and problems that affect Vision Truck Group and recommend action plan.
- Lead in the evaluation, selection, implementation, and training of a new Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
- Plan and provide organizational development strategy, direction, advice, and counsel to the Vice-President and President as required
- Make recommendations to the executive team using evidence-based research.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and implement as is necessary.

**Disability Claims**
- Receive, review, and submit all WSIB claims for all locations.
- Assist management with return-to-work procedures ensuring employees can return or be offered modified duties.
- Receive review and assist with disability claims.

**Corporate Health & Safety**
- Partake in quarterly joint health and safety meetings ensuring that all locations are compliant with health and safety.

Other duties and responsibilities as required.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Post-secondary education with a degree or certification in Human Resources Management or a related field is required
- 5+ years of experience as a Human Resources Generalist is required
- Previous experience as a Human Resources Manager would be considered an asset
- CHRP Designation would be considered an asset
- Solid working knowledge of employment legislation: Employment Standards Act, Ontario Human Right Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act is required
- Strong communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks
- Ability to function in a busy, open work environment
- Union experience would be considered a strong asset
- Working knowledge Payroll functions would be an asset
- Must hold a valid driver’s license
