**Principal Responsibilities**
- Manages the purchasing process, including approval of purchase requests for accuracy and all terms associated with the final purchase order, creates purchase orders and places orders with vendors.
- Develops and fosters relationships with vendors and suppliers on an ongoing basis, establishes terms with vendors and negotiates contracts and pricing agreements. Forecasts needs and supplies and evaluates supplier spend on a routine basis to ensure adherence to tiered contract terms and pricing agreements.
- Works with the Operations Team and liaises with Legal counsel when needed to ensure quote and contract language is reviewed and finalized.
- Works closely with Finance and the Operations Team, manages and oversees ERP workflows and ERP system implementation (NetSuite) as it relates to procurement and all associated training and policy requirements. Ensures procurement workflows align with internal policies.
- Develops, manages, and oversees policies related to purchasing and competitive bid processes.
- Proactively oversees and facilitates vendor selection criteria, service agreements and material requirements, related to both research and development as well as operational activities.
- Works with the Operations Team to manage the capital equipment sourcing strategy by actively supporting negotiations, mentoring staff on processes and skills related to sourcing and procurement of capital equipment, assists with budget forecasts.
- Liaises with R&D, IT and other teams to request quotes and support the Operations Team to track equipment warranty and service agreement expiration for budgeting purposes.
- Verifies shipping, delivery, or back-order status specific to products during purchasing cycle. Provides updates to purchase order and lead-time status of orders.
- Monitors purchase order status within the ERP system and facilitates closeout of received and expired POs with Finance
- Works with Technical Operations, CMC and Operations, assists with purchasing requirements impacted by FDA or other statutory or compliance frameworks.
- Actively works to foster an environment of effective and collaborative working relationships amongst employees, management, and external partners.
- Other related duties as assigned

**Qualifications, Education & Experience**
- University degree or diploma in a business-related discipline
- 5+ years of related experience within the biotechnology and/or pharmaceuticals industry or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) or APICS certification or equivalent

**Skills & Abilities**
- Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively to lead and mentor a cross-functional team. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Strong leadership, project management and organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in a high paced, fast changing environment
- In depth knowledge of NetSuite or comparable ERP systems
- Knowledge of purchasing best practices in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sector, including policies and procedures, interface with financial controls, and documentation standards
- Existing relationships with industry-standard laboratory reagents and equipment vendors
- Demonstrated ability to interface with scientific and technical staff to meet needs and assist in determining purchasing specifics
- Strong influencing skills and the ability to effectively deliver recommendations and prepare proposals
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skil
