The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for supervision of QMS coordinator and lab technicians within the Oakville packaging facility. Responsible for food safety, GMP practices, HACCP, food quality, and development of the QA personnel within the facility. The incumbent is expected to have intimate knowledge of oil processing, GMP practices and procedures, packaging processes, internal and external auditing, and be actively engaged in improving efficiencies, streamlining processes and continuous improvement.

**Core Functions**:

- Plan, execute, and oversee inspection and testing of incoming and outgoing product to confirm quality conformance to specifications and quality deliverables.
- Analyze and investigate product complaints or reported quality issues to ensure closure in accordance with company guidelines and external regulatory requirements.
- Develops quality assurance plans by conducting hazard analyses; identifying critical control points and preventive measures; establishing critical limits, monitoring procedures, corrective actions, and verification procedures; monitoring inventories.
- Provide training and support to quality assurance team on systems, policies, procedures, and core processes.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and customer audits including CFIA, HACCP, SQF, Yum and others as they arise and act as the location audit facilitator.
- Authorized to release product, issue certificate of analysis, initiate recall procedures, and recommend corrective actions.
- Responsible for facility food defense plan
- Perform all duties safely, display safety leadership, cultivate a zero incident safety culture, and comply with all government and corporate safety requirements.
**Skill/Experience Requirements**:

- University degree or College diploma in chemistry or related field with laboratory, QA, and plant experience.
- Good supervisory skills for laboratory technicians and others.
- 3+ years QA and Laboratory experience
- Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills and team orientation.
- Ability to interact with all levels of staff and management.
- Good understanding of shortenings, oils and margarine production.
- Operate analytical instruments including minor troubleshooting.
- Ability to reference industry standards, develop methodology, and adapt them to company requirements.
- Ability to plan experiments and studies, gather and analyze data, and write reports.
- Operate effectively within conflicting time restraints and prioritize jobs.
- Strong knowledge of SAP and MS Office including Word, Excel and Power Point.
- Ability to work extended hours, weekends and holidays, as required.
- Unrestricted cross boarder mobility.
