Quality Assurance Technician

The Quality Assurance Technician recognizes and communicates the importance of following safety practices while conducting testing and verification of electrical installations and commissioning procedures. This position is responsible for performing accredited inspections, on behalf of Measurement Canada, under Oakville Hydro Energy Services’ Accreditation. This position performs inspections and commissioning of electrical, water and thermal meters for quality control and assurance programs, reports findings and gives recommendations based on those findings. This position will provide support in the calibration, programming and maintenance of residential and commercial meters electrical meters within the Oakville Hydro Energy Service meter testing facility.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Work in compliance with all health and safety and environmental legislation including, but not limited to, the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and company policies and procedures
- Conducts Visual inspections and testing of electrical installations, single and three-phase meters, multi-customer meters, metering equipment and metering systems following Measurement Canada approved Quality Assurance procedures and Golden Horseshoe Metering Systems procedures and Oakville Hydro Energy Services procedures (e.g. S-E-04 Test Procedures)
- Conducts visual inspections and commissioning of water and thermal metering systems in multi residential new construction or retrofit buildings
- Identifies and reports issues related to metering equipment (basic troubleshooting) and electrical installations
- Ensures that the tools, materials and protective equipment provided by the Company are maintained in good condition
- Analyzes and interprets phase diagnostics information to identify metering installation-related problems
- Anticipates potential problems or areas of opportunity in the field and recommends solutions or corrective/preventive actions
- Analyzes, evaluates and compares customers’ records (e.g. Installation records, drawings, floor plans and billing records) against what is observed on job sites
- Ensures quality and accuracy of the data and information delivered to customers
- Prepares and delivers reports of problem areas such as safety issues, deficiencies with electrical installations and metering equipment
- Responsible for collecting data, site and installation information prior to S-E-04 Inspections (e.g. Pre-inspections)
- Responsible for the integrity and accuracy of the data and files (file management). Submit/upload files and pictures in a timely manner
- Provide as needed support with testing, calibration, programming and inspection certificate creation of residential and commercial meters in Oakville Hydro Energy Services meter testing facility
- Participate as a QAI in Measurement Canada product and surveillance audits
- Maintain accredited Quality Assurance program and associated documentation
- Other duties as assigned by Manager
**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Post-secondary diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technician or related disciple and or equivalent work experience
- Valid Class ‘G’ Ontario Driver’s Licence with an excellent driving record - travel is required throughout Southern Ontario
- Ability to lift up to 30kg (various metering equipment and electrical panels)
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to work in confined spaces (i.e. electrical closets)
- Ability to work in high rise buildings, including those still under construction
- Minimum 2-3 years relevant field experience with an electrical and/or mechanical systems or equivalent experience
