We are looking for a Scientific Communications Officer to lead the strategy and implementation of a range of internal and external communications activities to highlight Sinai Health and Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute’s leadership roles in research. A seasoned scientific communications professional, the Scientific Communications Officer thrives on working as part of a dynamic research team and in delivering best-in-class scientific communications practices.

The Scientific Communications Officer will report to the Vice President of Research at Sinai Health and Director of the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute (VP of Research/LTRI Director), and work closely with the Vice President of Corporate Communications for Sinai Health.

**Key Responsibilities**

**_A. Overall communication strategy and implementation_**
- Develop and implement a communication strategy and annual plan to disseminate scientific results by determining the appropriate channels and mediums to reach target audiences; develop Key Performance Indicators and evaluate communication tactics.
- Write, edit and manage scientific and communications content for a variety of channels (LTRI, Research, Sinai Health websites, social media platforms, blogs and newsletters) and styles (speaking notes, media releases, news stories, scenario notes, digital and social media content, and correspondence).
- Monitor and engage with the online research and media community, responding to inquiries and fostering scientific discussions.
- Engage with scientists to ensure a consistent and cohesive approach to research communication across different channels and platforms.
- Translate complex research concepts into clear and understandable language for non-experts and effectively communicate the relevance and impact of research to a wide range of stakeholders, highlighting the potential impacts and practical implications of the findings.
- Work closely with the Corporate Communications team and the Sinai Foundation team to identify news and stories for broader dissemination (e.g. media, donors, public) and communications strategies for disseminating these stories.
- Engage with stakeholders to better understand their communications needs and preference and help train researchers on effective communications strategies.
- Track and evaluate the impact of research communication efforts. Monitor Key Performance Indicators, gather feedback, and analyze data to assess the reach, engagement and effectiveness of research communications activities. Refine strategies and improve communications initiatives.
- Lead event planning and execution for key research announcements and stakeholder visits.

**_B. Other scientific communication responsibilities_**
- In this role (grants support), work closely with the scientific leads of the grants, the Grants Office staff, the Research Training Centre staff, the Finances Office and relevant stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development of scientific communication resources (training material, infographics, and visual aids).
- Coordinate (or help coordinate) research-focused events, such as conferences, workshops, webinars, and retreats. Work with researchers, event organizers and stakeholders to develop engaging programs and communication materials. Promote knowledge exchange and networking opportunities among participants.
- Support the nominations of researchers to awards by providing content for the nomination and organizing the nominees’ files; review the packages for accuracy, completeness and clarity, and edit the material to ensure that the package represents the nominee’s achievements accurately.
- Contribute to the development of outreach initiatives to promote science literacy and awareness.
- Job Requirements- PhD in a biomedical science field (or MSc with equivalent experience) and a strong understanding of the terminology and experimental design for molecular biology, cell biology, and/or clinical and translational research
- At least 5+ years of experience in a similar role; preferably in a health-care, research or academic setting
- Ability to support senior leaders, providing counsel, exercising strategic thinking and strong judgement
- High proficiency in scientific writing and ability to create clear, concise and accurate scientific content
- Strong organizational skills with proven ability to manage multiple team and independent projects simultaneously within a fast-paced
