**Full job description**:
The Youth Restorative Action Project (YRAP) is a restorative Youth Justice Committee founded and run by and for youth in the Edmonton area. YRAP works with young people who have caused harm to others while being affected by significant social issues (poverty, racism, homelessness, substance dependency, etc.). The goal is to provide these young people with constructive consequences for their actions while addressing the underlying issues that may lead them to re-offend if not resolved.

**Responsibilities include**:

- Overseeing fundraising activities and recording donations, writing fundraising letters, planning events, and cultivating strong relationships with potential donors and institutions
- Research ongoing and upcoming grant opportunities from government and non-government agencies.
- Studying and maintaining proficient knowledge of the history, structure, objectives, programs and financial needs of YRAP in order to accurately represent the organization when interacting with funders
- Reporting to and working alongside other staff, the Board of Directors, and volunteers
- Supporting the work of file coordinators and participating in some of YRAP’s youth-facing work.

**Experience in the following areas will be considered an asset**:

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (in English)
- Strong attention to detail, a professional demeanor, and the ability to multi-task while working independently.
- Working with youth aged 12-24 experiencing various social barriers
- Familiarity with the Youth Criminal Justice Act
- Documentation and administrative skills
- Self-motivated and able to work in a deadline-driven environment

**Additional Expectations for the Development Associate include**:

- Work with YRAP staff, volunteers, and Board of Directors to understand the organization
- Attending grant writing workshops when first hired
- Ongoing communication with the Board of directors and Financial Coordinator

As with all of our contract positions, the position is for three months, with the possibility of extension. This is an entry level youth work position. The time commitment could be 10-15 hours a week, however during peak seasons (January, February, July, and August) this can increase to 20-30 hours a week, depending on YRAP’s current needs. Training is provided by YRAP, and the successful applicant is encouraged and supported to take additional external training as well.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Casual

Pay: From $19.50 per hour

Expected hours: 10 - 20 per week
