**Salary**: $2,626.89 to 3,448.73 bi-weekly ($68,561 - $90,011 /year)

Alberta Infrastructure designs, builds, manages and maintains government-owned and operated facilities, and collaborates with other ministries to ensure that schools, hospitals and government facilities infrastructure meet the needs of Alberta’s population. The Ministry also provides accommodation services and manages a large portfolio of owned and leased facilities while maintaining fiscal accountability and optimizing value for Albertans.

**Role Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Manager, Facility Evaluations, the Application Specialist facilitates business operations by acting as a link between the knowledge management system (eg., VFA) software consultants, contracted by the Ministry of Technology and Innovation, and the Infrastructure Facility Evaluations team.

The Application Specialist will have a thorough understanding of the technical business requirements of the Facility Evaluation team and collaborate with the software consultants to troubleshoot and resolve the team's and client ministry issues. They must be able to establish effective working relationships with technical representatives and internal and external stakeholders to provide the varied information and services associated with ongoing development and administration of the knowledge management system and support their use and operation.

The main responsibilities for the Application Specialist are, but not limited to:

- Plans and coordinates provision of comprehensive training services for the primarily web-based system that supports the facility evaluation team's business operations.
- Resolving problems associated with VFA and the replacement knowledge management system, responding to user business needs and concerns, addressing issues with current production functionality, providing specialized knowledge and information to all internal and external users.
- Assesses and determines training requirements of users, develops, and delivers training with content tailored to the needs of specific audiences; training forums and formats include in-person classroom sessions, on-line tutorials, one-on-one coaching, refresher sessions, workshops, etc.
- Liaise with technical consultants and other representatives to coordinate associated changes and enhancements to system as appropriate. Develop and document processes to aide in data migration between existing and new information management software.To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

- Sound research skills and ability to analyze and formulate recommendations for technical issues experienced by end users as it relates to software.
- Well developed working and consultative relationships with colleagues and with diverse groups of stakeholders
- Knowledge of the Facility Evaluation Program, policy, goals and priorities and how it is connected to other related department programs and business priorities.
- Decision making skills to recommend alternatives and solutions in dealing with problematic matters that may arise.

**Qualifications**:
**Required**:

- University graduation in a related field such as computer information science or business administration, plus a minimum of four (4) years progressively responsible related experience.

**Equivalency**:Directly related education or experience considered based on:

- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

**Additional**:

- Experience with VFA software is a requirement.
- Experience with facilitation of training sessions is a requirement.
- Experience with other building system software is an asset.
- Experience and knowledge of building maintenance and construction is an asset.
- Experience with creation of tutorial videos is an asset.
