As a team player with strong interpersonal skills, the Assistant Controller supports the Controller by examining and analysing account records of the organization, as well as preparing and consolidating financial statements, establishing and maintaining internal controls, and performing accounting best practices.

**Highlights of What You’ll Do**
- Preparing and consolidating financial statements to summarize and forecast the organization’s financial status
- Managing accounting, auditing, budgeting, and all aspects of the general ledger
- Providing monthly, quarterly, and year-end analyses; considering and forming ad hoc financial reports
- Producing and managing balance sheets and analyzing future earnings and expenses
- Coordinating or assisting with the budget process
- Drawing up numerous procedures, policies, and technical accounting analyses; establishing and maintaining internal controls
- Supporting accountability and the meeting of deliverables
- Supporting the preparation of GAAP financial statements, including budgeting and forecasting; researching accounting issues for compliance with GAAP
- Maintaining implementation and insuring adherence to accounting policies and procedures
- Supporting the accounting team during the closing process to confirm deadlines are met; supervising accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general accounting transactions
- Distinguishing and evolving process improvements to streamline reporting and improving team efficiency
- Supporting to ensure a competent, trained staff through development, regular assessment, and goal setting
- Providing regular account reconciliation to completion
- Establishing relevant and timely reports on financial data analytics, such as key financial metrics and actual spend against budgets/outlook; analyzing and reporting cost variances
- Preparing and coordinating fiscal year-end audits
- Serving as a liaison to external auditors
- Filling in the for the Controller where applicable
- Assisting in general financial management and analysis
- Other ad hoc duties and responsibilities as required

**What You’ll Bring Along**

Must-Haves:

- 5-6 years of experience in a diverse range of accounting functions including as a supervisor
- Degree in accounting, finance, economics, business administration, or a related field
- Advanced general ledger accounting experience
- Exceptional analytical, quantitative, and social skills
- Solid understanding of GAAP and applicable regulations
- Mathematical, budgeting, and financial reporting background
- Exceptional skills in QuickBooks and Microsoft365 (Excel, Teams, Outlook, PPT)
- Strong attention to detail, coupled with high standards
- Highly organized and self-disciplined; ability to prioritize tasks effectively and manage expectations
- Data driven and analytical; a creative and strategic thinker
- Demonstrated balance of IQ and EQ
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment; highly self-motivated
- Team player with strong interpersonal skills
- Passion for customer service; ability to build relationships with both clients and peers
- Outstanding ability to communicate confidently, verbally and in writing; exceptional communication skills virtually and in person

Nice-to-Haves:

- Advanced education in a business discipline or accounting is an asset
- CPA certification is an asset
