**Position Overview**:
Cedar Coast has a permanent, full-time opportunity for an experienced Assistant Controller who is passionate about numbers and wants to join a fast-paced, growing entrepreneurial company. This role will report to the Controller and will focus on overseeing the daily accounting responsibilities and financial statement reporting process. The Assistant Controller will also utilize existing technologies to enhance efficiencies and ensure complete, accurate and timely financial reporting.

**Responsibilities**:

- Prepare and review the quarterly financial statements for all projects.
- Provide accounting technical support for the accounting team, including drafting technical memos for proper treatment under REALPAC ASPE, as well as operational policies and procedures.
- Compile, review, and perform variance analyses on monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for multiple projects.
- Support the month-end full cycle accounting duties by analyzing financial information to preparing journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Manage a team of 3 direct reports. Develop and coach these individuals to maintain employee engagement and motivation in a high-growth environment.
- As a senior accounting team member, provide leadership and support to all accounting team members, as needed.
- Develop, improve, implement, and document process improvements for existing day-to-day accounting policies, month-end close process and reconciliations.
- Maintain internal control systems and recommend improvements to ensure the continued integrity of the company’s financial information.
- Oversee the preparation of construction draws and respond to project monitor inquiries.
- Support financial decision-making by collecting, analyzing, investigating and reporting financial data for various stakeholders.
- Liaise with external auditors and assist with coordinating all audit activities for audits and NTR engagements of both consolidated and individual projects.
- Assist and review the monthly distributions and interest payments to various stakeholders.
- Ensure all financial deadlines are met in a timely manner.
- Support special projects and initiatives, as well as ad-hoc reporting or analysis on an as-needed basis for the Controller, VP Finance, CFO, and other areas of the business.

**Qualifications and Skills**:

- CPA designation with a minimum of 5 years’ post qualification experience in a similar role.
- Minimum 3 years management or team supervisory experience. Proven ability to support, motivate, and develop individuals.
- Experience in real estate project development or construction industry accounting is an asset.
- Strong accounting technical knowledge in all areas of ASPE, consolidation, and foreign exchange. Knowledge of REALPAC ASPE is a plus
- Full cycle accounting experience including production of consolidated working papers and financial statements.
- Analytical thinker and inquisitive by nature with an aptitude for critical thinking and problem
- solving.
- Ability to work independently and to complete projects with mínimal oversight.
- Personable, effective, and collaborative as a team player with a sustained positive attitude and willingness to assist in other roles at peak periods.
- Strong organizational and managerial skills, ability to adapt to multiple demands, set priorities, achieve results and meet deadlines on a timely basis.
- Self-motivated with a sense of urgency, driven to continuously improve operational effectiveness.
- Excellent communication skills, oral and written, with strong interpersonal skills.
- A high level of proficiency with cloud-based ERP systems (Sage Intacct experience is a plus),

Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word, Google Apps.
