**Wage**: $18.00/hour

**Start date**:June 1st 2023
Work hours: Monday to Friday, 7 hours a day

3. Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations. International students
are not eligible participants. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian citizens or permanent residents

The Student Association of BCIT is a non-profit student services and advocacy organization at the second largest post-secondary institution in British Columbia. **The Position.**

The Human Resources Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support to the People & Culture Department as it relates to general HR duties. You assist on diverse projects for the advancement of the BCITSA People & Culture Portfolio, as assigned by the Director, People & Culture.

**More specifically, your key duties and responsibilities will be the following**:
**People & Culture Support**
- Provide administrative support to the People & Culture department
- Assist the People & Culture department with various projects and initiatives
- Assist with the digitization of files and the streamlining of HR processes
- Conduct People & Culture related research as requested
- Assist with other People & Culture administrative duties as required and answer questions as needed.

**Recruitment Support**
- Work alongside the Human Resources team to determine staffing plans
- Use appropriate recruitment platforms (job boards, social media, company website, etc.) to post for new jobs that become available
- Receive and sort resumes to be sent out to departmental managers for the selection process
- Schedule and partake in interviews, taking detailed notes
- Conduct reference checks and offer positions promptly
- Prepare new-hire packages ensuring all necessary paperwork is included
- Assist with orientation and onboarding of new hires

**Operational Duties**
- Understand and follow all policies and procedures
- Assist in developing and improving department documentation and procedures
- Assist in maintaining portfolio records, statistics, and security with strictest confidentiality
- Partake of BCITSA Health and Safety Committee meetings
- Assist staff on various issues in absence of other team members

**Relationship Building, Networking and Communication**
- Manage and cultivate authentic relationships with all staff and key internal and external stakeholders

**Other Related Duties**
- Assist other staff with duties, especially when busy
- Other related duties as required

**BCITSA Agent**
- Maintain a professional and friendly demeanor when interacting with any internal or external stakeholders
- Understand and promote our mission and values naturally and know our basic history

**Supplementary Information**
- Attend all staff meetings and training sessions as required
- Must be able to focus on a digital display for long periods of time

**In addition, you must have**:

- Team player
- Project management skills
- Organizational skills
- Superior written and spoken English language skills
- Intermediate proficiency using MS Office Suite
