EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Temporary Full-time (until approx. December 31, 2024)
REPORTING TO: Outreach/Teen Librarian
UNION AFFILIATION: Non-Union
WAGE RATE: $27.29- $34.11/hr ($49,667.80-$62,080.20 /annually)

The Outreach Services Specialist promotes Oxford County Library through the development of programming and outreach services to all ages. Reporting to the Outreach/Teen Librarian, this position is responsible for the coordination of the Ox on the Run Mobile Unit service.
The Outreach Services Specialist provides equitable access by removing barriers and creating an environment that encourages all residents to use the Oxford County Library and Ox on the Run. This position is tasked with raising the library’s visibility throughout the County, while building and maintaining positive relationships with community partners.
**PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES**:
1. Under the direction of the Outreach/Teen Librarian, develop an ongoing schedule of stops at a wide variety of community locations for community events, co-sponsored programs and library programs in the community.
2. Raises the library’s visibility by bringing an entertaining and instructional library presence to community events, co-sponsored programs, and parks and community space programs.
3. Builds and maintains positive, mutually beneficial relationships with community partners and represents Oxford County Library in the community.
4. Proactively engages the public in dialogue about the Oxford County Library and the programs and services provided by the library.
5. Supports the Library’s social media presence by generating and publishing original daily content that builds meaningful connections and engagement.
6. Provides equitable access by removing barriers and creating an environment that encourages all residents to use the Oxford County Library.
7. Provides essential customer service, such as circulation duties, library card registration, wi-fi and simple technology questions, library services questions.
8. Provides comprehensive customer service, such as readers advisory and information services.
9. Supports use of digital library services, resources and related technologies through direct individual assistance.
10. Organizes displays and handout materials for community and outreach activities.
11. In collaboration with other programming staff, explores the use of emerging and dynamic technologies for the delivery of library service to remote users.
12. Performs outcome-based service and program evaluations to measure the effects of library programs and services in the community; reports metrics and KPIs to Outreach/Teen Librarian
13. Drives the library mobile outreach unit to locations throughout the County.
14. Loads and unloads items including books, equipment and supplies.
15. May assist with the delivery of books, mail, other equipment and/or materials between OCL branches and/or to municipal or county locations.
16. Performs other duties as assigned.
**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**:
1. Post-secondary education in Library studies, Early Childhood Education or a related discipline. MLIS considered an asset.
2. Demonstrated experience working within a library setting, developing and implementing programming for customers of all ages, with a focus on children and families.
3. Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple deadlines, changing priorities and attention to detail.
4. Excellent communication skills.
5. Excellent computer and technology skills, comfort with new and emerging technologies.
6. Valid Ontario driver’s license required. Must be able to travel to multiple locations.
