**POSITION TITLE**: PROGRAM ASSISTANT
**REPORTS TO**: OPERATIONS MANAGER
***: The objective of this position is to support the Operations Manager in managing the day-to-day front-line operations of the food bank
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support of CFB programs, including, monitoring of program progress, adherence to program policy and procedures, and evaluate outcomes
- Design performance objectives and implement and monitor programming to meet desired outcomes
- Research, advise, develop on social enterprise opportunities involving food
- Ensure high quality and respectful service and programming is maintained at all times
- Assist with the development of public relations and communications strategies to support program goals and increase community awareness of the agency as a whole
- Safe Food Handling certification or willingness to obtain
- Weekend support of markets required during the summer months
**JOB SPECIFICATIONS**
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE
The Program Coordinator must have proficient knowledge in the following areas:
- Strong grant writing and editing skills with demonstrated experience in obtaining funding
- Demonstrated ability to generate and deliver persuasive and clear written and verbal communications, with strong presentation skills
- Ability to conduct evaluations of agency programs and services
- Must have strong and polished interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
- Exceptional attention to detail/organization skills
- Proven ability to work in a small non-profit environment at a strategic and tactical level
- Creative, strategic and analytical thinker with the ability to manage multiple projects
- Experienced in developing and managing budgets
- Willingness to travel for periodic meetings/events
EDUCATION
- Degree or diploma in social services or equivalent
- Program evaluation training/certification
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position is primarily sitting in an office environment but does have the potential for lifting and local travel. Regular exposure to stressful situations including simultaneous deadlines while managing frequent interruptions. This position requires a tolerance of ambiguity and the ability to be able to change tasks or direction with ease, make back up plans. Driving is required on occasion thus a driver’s license and clear drivers abstract is essential.
TIME REQUIREMENTS
This position is a full time position up to 37.5 hours per week. The CFB’s regular office hours are Monday through Friday 9-5:00 pm. It has flexible hours as the nature of the work and it is understood that all team members are required to work irregular hours to ensure that the objectives of the organization are being met. This includes the potential for evenings and weekends.
This position is funded by a grant for 12 months.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
**Salary**: $21.30-$25.82 per hour
