If so, we have an exciting opportunity as a Collections Administrative Support within the Collections Unit (unit).

This position, as part of the unit, reports to the Collections Team Lead. In this role, the Collections Administrative Support will be responsible for:

- Performing a variety of administrative services/support responsibilities.
- Reviewing claims and preparing documents for filing at the Court of King’s Bench.
- Corresponding and contacting claimants, employers and related professions.

The incumbent, as the Collections Administrative Support, plays a vital role in the support of enforcement of Employment Standards Orders/Awards/Administrative Penalties assigned to this unit for collections. The Orders/Awards/Administrative Penalties are the result of Employment Standards Officer (ESO) investigations into claims filed by employees across Alberta. Where the ESOs have been unable to collect funds due from employers, the orders to pay are referred to this unit for collection and filed as judgments in the Court of King’s Bench. The incumbent supports the unit’s responsibilities to administer compliance and collection of payments in accordance with legislation, regulations, administrative policies and other agreements resulting in fair and equitable treatment of individuals and corporations.

The incumbent is also responsible for obtaining information to complete such legal documents as Writs of Enforcement, Personal Property Registrations and Land Titles Registrations. At this stage the documents are reviewed and the individual is expected to administer and assist with the legal filing and discharge of these documents. There is a high degree of responsibility in this position’s role to ensure that the information placed in legal documents is correct and that the data recorded is entered in an accurate and timely manner.

This position works closely with the Collections Team Lead and the Collection Officers in the unit to achieve the unit’s goal of maintaining the highest possible collection recovery rates and timely service to Albertans. The incumbent’s role in the administration of documents, follow-up letters, information gathering, and stakeholder contact is critical to the success of this unit.

**Qualifications**:
A high school diploma and three years of related administrative experience; or equivalent education/experience as described below:

- 1 year of education for 1 year of directly related experience; or
- 1 year directly related experience for 1 year of education.

Additional Assets include:

- Familiarity with the Employment Standards Code and Regulation, as well as the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
- Familiarity with the principals of the Civil Enforcement Act and those sections that impact on the enforcement of Employment Standards Orders, Awards, and Administrative Penalties.
- Knowledge of the Employment Standards Collections Unit administration processes, procedures and policies.
- Strong analytical skills to be applied in the assessment of collection files.
- Working knowledge of civil enforcement practices.
- Experience with the Alberta Personal Property Registry (APPRES).
