**Responsibilities**:
In collaboration with the Wellness Education Coordinator, as a **Peer Facilitator**, your role is to assist in co-planning, co-designing, and co-facilitating session offerings. If you are interested in leveraging your recent lived experience navigating wellness through post-secondary education to empower students and the campus communities on the shared journey of discovery, wellness, and hope, join our team.
In partnership with Ontario Shores, this opportunity creates a unique mental health and wellbeing learning center where students with lived mental health experiences come together to co-create, co-deliver and discuss courses on topics that support mental health. These offerings strive to support students in living their best life by covering diverse topics that support mental health, well-being, and personal mental health recovery. The offerings are rooted in the principles of connection, self-identity, hope, meaning, and empowerment.
**Key Accountabilities**
- Facilitate and co-facilitate sessions and discussions on wellness-related topics
- Co-produce wellness courses and presentation materials
- Use co-design and appropriate program development techniques to promote, develop, and deliver recovery college curricula within the post-secondary context
- Coordinate and carry out administrative duties
- Use a strengths-based approach to promote health and wellness
- Actively participate in stigma reduction and raising awareness of current issues in mental health
- Other duties as assigned
**Outcomes of the Role**
Facilitation
- Skills in facilitating sessions about wellness and wellbeing-related topics.
Co-creating Content and Course Materials
- Develop your skills in co-creating wellness and wellbeing course material, as well as knowledge of student supports and resources available both on-campus and off-campus.
- Get training in specific issues related to facilitation and co-creating course materials
Communication and Teamwork
- Enhance your communication skills by interacting with Western students to disseminate wellness education and training in a respectful, creative and accurate manner.
- Gain interpersonal and teamwork skills as you contribute to the development and implementation of the recovery college program at Western
Leadership
- Develop leadership skills and build confidence as a student leader
**Requirements to Perform Successfully**
**Education**: Minimum Required:
- Must be a full time student at Western (enrolled in minimum 3.5 courses), and expect to retain full-time student status for the duration of this appointment
**Experience**: Minimum Required:
- Up to 2 years experience in leadership student roles within a university setting
- Up to 2 years experience at Western University student leaders’ roles preferred
**Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Attributes**
- Exceptional communication and public speaking skills
- Empathy and listening skills; commitment to serving others in an enthusiastic, engaging, non-judgmental manner
- Strong interest in program coordination and facilitation
- Ability to work well independently as well as in a team
- Proven reliability with well-developed time management skills
- The ability to leverage your lived experience into the development of the program
