The Role

The automation technician is responsible for the programming, debugging, installation and startup of new or modified production and test equipment from the perspective of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and controls installation. Responsible for the sustenance of equipment documentation systems from the perspective of obtaining and updating technical reference manuals, instructions and electrical schematics required to service this equipment long term.

Key Education and Skills Requirements:
- Technical diploma in Automation or Engineering Technology and relevant automotive industry experience- 3+ yrs experience in the hands on repair and maintenance of Automation, robotics and CNC machining centers in a high volume manufacturing environment- Familiarity with Fanuc, A-B, Omron and Siemens controls and Fanuc and ABB robotics- Knowledge of PLC, CNC, Electrical and Mechanical Systems required.- Knowledge of IATF16949/ISO9001 standards with respect to APQP, PPAP, and QOS is a definite asset- Able to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, at all levels of the organization- High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results orientation- (as per the job)

Language Skills:
- Excellent English skills - written and verbal

Work Environment (including Physical Demands): *12 hour continental shifts- The first involves maintaining the critical equipment on the shop floor. Troubleshooting of robotics and controls related problems is carried out. The techs use variety of tools to troubleshoot issues and must be technically sound to use a work laptop to read PLC and robots program code. The tech must also have a good analytical and inquisitive mind to determine any of the problems that affect production and resolve those issues in timely manner. Lastly, the techs must also have an understanding how the robotic systems work with some low voltage electrical troubleshooting capabilities.- The second involves carrying out project-based work to improve the systems out on the shop floor. This involves creating new program code for different automation devices such as PLC’s, robots, vision systems, servo motors, databases, and other specialty programs. This type of work also involves getting these devices to communicate to each other through multiple industrial networks. The project-based work may involve the construction of a robotic work area (either part of the area or a whole new area), deconstruction (removal of old or damaged equipment), and commissioning of equipment. This also involves both mechanical and low voltage electrical knowledge.

Salary and Benefits:
Full-time, permanent position. Salary $65000 - $75000 (provide range if applicable)
