Materials Manager

Winnipeg, Canada Buhler Versatile Inc. Full time

As a member of the Operations management team the Materials Manager you will maintain the flow of materials necessary for production. At Versatile, this role is part of the Production Control Department.

**Key Responsibilities and Duties**:

- Drive improvements in the production process using Lean manufacturing techniques
- Plan, direct and control the movement and transaction of materials and products in the plant to successfully meet production schedules
- Identify, communicate and resolve any conditions that could cause production delays
- Establish and prioritize work schedules and co-ordinate activities with other work units or departments to meet production schedules
- Plan and coordinate material required for new product launches
- Prepare or oversee the preparation of reports and statistics related to accuracy of company inventories
- Assign and review the work of staff engaged in the following duties: shipping, receiving, storing, distributing and maintaining inventories of materials, parts and products; processing transactions; coordinating production work; performing cycle counts.
- Ensure the integrity of finished goods in stock
- Coordinate training of employees in job duties, safety procedures and company policies. Mentor and guide development of people
- Frequent time spent in the factory and R&D area

**Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary or equivalent on the job experience
- APICS certification or equivalent preferred
- Minimum 5 years of management or supervisory experience in a Lean manufacturing environment - Production Control and inventory focus
- Expert level experience in an ERP environment
- Knowledge of WHMIS and hazardous goods procedures
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Working knowledge of MS Office.
