**Job Summary**
The Early Childhood Educator (ECE) collaborates closely with all team members to provide a nurturing, inclusive and culturally appropriate space for all. The ECE will report directly to the Facility Manager and will supervise ECE assistants. We seek dedicated Early Childhood Educators to join our team. **Duties**

Develop and Implement Curriculum
- Lesson Plans: Create and execute age-appropriate lesson plans that align with educational goals and promote holistic development.
- Cultural Engagement: Engage children in stories and other cultural teachings to enrich their learning experience.
- Daily Activities: Provide a daily balance of active/quiet, indoor/outdoor, and individual/group activities.
- Material Utilization: Observe how children use materials and communication to expand play and plan activities recognizing individual differences.

Child Development
- Holistic Development: Foster a nurturing and inclusive learning environment that promotes the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of each child.
- Sense of Belonging: Support each child in building their sense of self and belonging within the community.
- Individual Strengths and Interests: Respect and nurture each child’s strengths, abilities, needs, and interests.
- Monitor and Document Progress: Keep track of children’s progress, identify strengths, and address developmental or behavioural concerns.

Classroom Management
- Inviting Learning Spaces: Create inviting spaces for play and learning.
- Classroom Setup and Teardown: Set up and tear down daycare components as required.
- Daily Logistics: Assist in developing daycare schedules and planning logistics with daycare staff.

Parent and Community Engagement
- Build Positive Relationships: Build and maintain positive relationships with co-workers, children’s families, and community services.
- Parent Communication: Engage with parents to inform them about their child’s progress and development.

Health and Safety
- Child Well-being: Ensure the well-being of each child by maintaining a safe and healthy environment.

Reporting and Professional Development
- Documentation: Monitor and document children’s progress and development.
- Professional Growth: Attend all training opportunities, staff meetings, and events provided and scheduled.

Inclusive Education
- Inclusive Environment: Foster an inclusive environment that respects and nurtures each child’s strengths and needs.

**Qualifications and skills**
Education and Certification
- Education: Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education.
- Certification: Early Childhood Education license in good standing with the BC ECE Registry.
- First Aid: Valid First Aid - CPR certification for Childcare.
- Criminal Record Check: Clear criminal record check for working with vulnerable populations.

Experience
- Experience: Previous experience working with young children in an educational setting.

Skills and Attributes
- Empathy and Understanding: Strong empathy and understanding of children's needs and development.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Patience and Creativity: Patience, creativity, and passion for working with young children.
- Dependability and Responsibility: Dependable, responsible, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Knowledgeable of Islam's teachings, values and principles: Have a good background in understanding Islam and its values and principles to educate early childhood children.
- Community Engagement: Actively engaged in the community and respectful of the diversity of the community.

Preferred Qualifications
- BCMA Victoria Members: Preference will be given to qualified members of the BC Muslim Association (BCMA) Victoria.
