**JOB TITLE - DIRECTOR**

**STARTING WAGE - $65,520**

**POSITION MANDATE/JOB SUMMARY**:
Muskoka Lakes Preschool believes in providing a high-quality Early Childhood program that cultivates authentic, caring relationships and connections to create a sense of belonging among and between children, adults, and the world around them.

The Director is responsible for creating an environment that embodies Muskoka Lakes Preschool’s program statement, and fostering a supportive community for children staff and families. The Director oversees the leadership, management, and operations of the organization according to the strategic direction, and policies set by the Board of Directors. The Director is responsible for all financial reporting and budgeting needs of Muskoka Lakes Preschool. The Director is responsible for policy implementation and effective management of Muskoka Lakes Preschool and all its programs.

**REQUIRED EXPERIENCE**
- Business Administration experience
- Extensive Accounting experience
- Human Resources experience
- Business Management experience
- And/or a minimum of 3-5 years as a Director of a non-profit

**PRIORITY FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES**

The Board of Directors delegates responsibility and authority for management functions to the Director to act on the Board’s behalf as the employer/operator to;
- Support the Board of Directors through open and frequent communication
- Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations for the organization
- Enrolment for all preschool and toddler aged children, manages the wait list and fills all vacancies
- Oversee the financial viability of the organization through budget management in the areas of fee collection, invoicing, for purchase of services, monthly childcare fees, and balancing revenue and expenditures
- Responsible for delegating as needed to ensure all licensing requirements are met at all times
- Ensure the effective management of human resources directly related to hiring, supervision, evaluations, disciplinary action and dismissal of all employees, with communication with the HR Chair on the Board of Directors when necessary
- Assist and advise the Board on all changes to compliance and operational requirements for the organization
- Implement all policies adopted by the Board
- Recommend appropriate policy issues, or adjustments for the Board’s attention
- Service as the CEO of the organization

Oversees up to 100 childcare spaces

Responsible for the management of up to 20 employees

**SPECIALIZED QUALIFICATIONS TO DEVELOP FOR SUCCESSFUL IMPLEMENTATION OF THE ROLE**
- Extensive knowledge of Licensing regulations and requirements including all Regional or Municipal requirements
- Understanding of the College of Early Childhood Educators, Code of Ethics, Standards of Practice and Continuous Professional Learning
- Extensive knowledge of financial management practices
- Understand the database for the administration of children’s records and fees
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code, Occupational Health and Safety, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, Conducting Workplace Investigations related to harassment legislation and Employment Standards, Conflict Management Skills, Bill 132 Workplace Harassment Legislation
- Understanding of “How Does Learning Happen?”, the Early Years Policy Framework”, the Early Years and Child Care Act, AQI, Public Health and other relevant legislation
- Able to self-educate when unfamiliar with required documentation, legislation, procedures, policies etc.
