The School of Nursing at the University of British Columbia (UBC), Vancouver campus, in collaboration with Providence Health Care (PHC), is recruiting for a full-time Tenure Track Assistant Professor who will also hold the newly established Providence Health Care/UBC Professorship in Indigenous Cultural Safety and Nursing.
UBC and PHC are collectively committed to the process of Truth and Reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples and have embedded this commitment in our strategic plans and operations. [1] UBC and PHC are also proactively responding to the _In Plain Sight _report into Indigenous-specific racism in health care, and are at the forefront of education, research, and knowledge development designed to support Indigenous Cultural Safety, human rights and health. **Providence Health Care **(PHC)** **is a Catholic-sponsored health care organization rooted in values of compassion, social justice, and respect. PHC** **has 6,000+ staff, 1,100+ medical staff/physicians, 1000+ researchers, 1,600+ volunteers delivering care and associated operations for 18 sites in Greater Vancouver. **The University of British Columbia** (UBC) is a global centre for teaching, learning and research, consistently ranked among the top 20 public universities in the world. The UBC School of Nursing launched the first university-based baccalaureate program in nursing in Canada more than 100 years ago, partnering from the beginning with St. Paul’s Hospital in clinical practice education. The School continues to be a national and global leader in nursing education and nursing research to support nursing practice, guide health policy, and promote health equity.
Qualifications / Skills and Education:
**Education**:
- PhD in Nursing or a related discipline (completed or nearly completed).
- Practice experience in nursing.
- Registered or eligible for registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives.
**Skills and Abilities**:
- Demonstrated potential for excellence in research and teaching.
- Experience working with Indigenous communities and advancing Indigenous Cultural Safety.
- Ability to develop a sustainable research program with the potential for impact across Canada.
- Commitment to Truth and Reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples.
Duties and Responsibilities:

**Your Day to Day**:
- Lead research in Indigenous Cultural Safety, collaborating with PHC and UBC colleagues.
- Teach, mentor, and provide clinical services related to Indigenous Cultural Safety.
- Engage with Indigenous communities to inform and guide your research and teaching.
- Strengthen partnerships between PHC and UBC to advance Indigenous Cultural Safety and Nursing.
