RN Hospice Palliative Care
Job Description
SummaryJoin an amazing interdisciplinary team, that provides a holistic approach to end of life care.
About St. John's Hospice
The first community hospice on Vancouver's West Side, and is situated in a beautiful location on the University of British Columbia's campus.
What makes St. John Hospice unique is the role it will have in strengthening palliative care knowledge and practices throughout the province. Hospice staff, in conjunction with members of the UBC Faculty of Medicine, will unobtrusively collect general data that will be used to develop innovative, multidisciplinary palliative care practices. With better understanding and training of caregivers, more British Columbians will be able to experience loving, quality care in their final days.
This hospice is positioned to help train nurses and doctors about the special treatment and needs of those in palliative care. While participation is entirely in the control of the resident, the experience in other countries is that most hospice residents are pleased to be involved in palliative research that will help better future care for others.
Learn more about our Palliative and Hospice Care at Providence by watching this video:
Providence Health Care (PHC) is a health and wellness resource for all British Columbians. We’re committed to treating those we serve — and each other — with compassion and respect.
While it started with very humble roots, the PHC of today has grown; now there are almost 9,000 people working at our 17 sites. We have 8,000 staff, 1,500 medical staff/physicians, 200 researchers, 1,600 volunteers.
“How you want to be treated” is now a benchmark — for all of us, every day.
PHC is strongly committed to creating and maintaining a workplace of choice where employees are recognized and valued. PHC strives to provide work-life balance and promotes a positive work culture by having integrated support model of training, mentoring and coaching so the Manager can support their staff to provide exceptional care.
We see a person before we see an illness. We believe that building relationships with our patients starts from the first encounter. We listen with open minds and hearts to help our patients regain stability and return to the things they enjoy. Providence Health Care provides a range of coordinated emergency, inpatient, outpatient, specialized diagnostic and treatment services and provincial services for people with serious mental illnesses, including those with addictions.
