Job Summary

UBC Health is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to coordinate the development, delivery, and evaluation of initiatives that link efforts and priorities of university and health sector partners. The Coordinator, Interdisciplinary Health Projects will facilitate the implementation of projects that align with the UBC Health Strategic Plan to enable dialogue, activate assets, and advance policies and innovations to improve health systems at individual and community levels.

This role will coordinate diverse projects aimed at improving health systems through healthcare innovation, collaborative education, and interdisciplinary research. Examples of initiatives include coordinating cross-sector dialogue about critical challenges for health in British Columbia, supporting a broad-based network for advancement of team-based care, and contributing to the development of a program for collaborative health education in team-based care.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent diplomacy, communication, and interpersonal skills, as well as considerable judgment and problem-solving skills to develop approaches and techniques to engage with diverse partners to achieve project objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop project plans for activities identified under the UBC Health Strategic Plan, ensuring consultation with project partners
  • Conduct needs assessments, environmental scans, and literature reviews to inform specific projects
  • Contribute to project development, planning, and execution
  • Develop project proposals, timeframes, schedules, and budgets
  • Identify work priorities for projects, set timelines, monitor budgets, and ensure project objectives and deadlines are met
  • Attend meetings to define strategy, goals, and scope of projects
  • Coordinate logistics for project team events and meetings, including preparing and distributing agendas and other materials, taking notes, and tracking action items for follow-up
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, plans, reports, and financial summaries
  • Gather, track, compile, and report on relevant project assignment and progress information from multiple sources
  • Coordinate the acquisition of information from multiple sources and individuals
  • Draft project management template documents and workflow designed to support the breadth of projects within the Office of the Vice-President, Health
  • Manage full project cycles from conception of ideas to completion of projects
  • Organize and coordinate various events, including event logistics and communications
  • Research and identify potential funding sources
  • Prepare grant applications, reports, ethics applications, and other written materials
  • Coordinate and participate in meetings of the UBC Health Student Caucus
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with various faculties, schools, and departments with a commitment to the integrated collaborative nature of UBC Health
  • Maintain professional levels of communication at all times to strengthen existing collaborations with UBC Health partners
  • Provide project support and other general administrative duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline
  • Minimum of four years of related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with one's own
  • Demonstrates a commitment to enhancing one's own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in Education or a relevant discipline
  • Experience in project coordination or project management
  • Experience in planning and coordinating educational events such as workshops or symposia

Work Environment

The Coordinator, Interdisciplinary Health Projects will work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, collaborating with faculty, staff, students, and partners from various faculties and departments at UBC Vancouver and UBC Okanagan campuses, as well as with health sector partners, including patients and non-profit organizations, across British Columbia.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
