**Your role**
CBC Quebec is looking for a self-starter who is passionate about innovative visual storytelling. As reporter, digital formats based in Montreal, you will produce visual news content with the needs and expectations of digital audiences in mind. You will focus on increasing the range of storytelling rooted in the community on all of CBC’s digital platforms including cbc.ca and social media. This includes pitching, researching, scripting, storyboarding,
filming and editing video and photos.
You are a team player who will also work with journalists to help bring stories to life in new ways. You are flexible and quick to adapt to new tech, trends and best practices in digital spaces. You bring to the role experience and knowledge of digital news, visual storytelling, social media, video filming and editing as well as photo editing.
For reference purposes, this position is from 12-8 pm but may be modified and is dependent on production needs.
**Tasks**:
- Keep up with news through a variety of sources.
- Build and maintain a network of sources.
- Pitch and be assigned topics for news stories, reports, interviews and features.
- Research, gather, evaluate all material on the story being covered.
- Plan articles or reports around the story to be told and its format. Conduct interviews assess their relevance and select the appropriate clips.
- Work with digital production teams for graphics and other visual content requests for all platforms.
- Use all digital tools at your disposal to integrate elements (text, graphics, audio, video, images and/or interactive material), so that content has all the features defined by project leaders.
- Assess features and behaviors so as to optimize the user experience (UX).
- Produce visual content (photos, illustrations, icons, etc.) tailored to the interface (multiscreen), following CBC/Radio-Canada branding guidelines.
- Process, format and digitize various media types.
- Ensure content is developed with a digital audience in mind. Schedule social media posts and moderate posts as required.
- Conduct research to find images, visual resources and music.
- Maintain regular technology watch to keep up with best digital practices and technological innovations and tools.
- Scout locations. Prepare, adjust and operate a DSLR and/or IPhone and related equipment, ensuring optimal video and sound quality.
- View footage and prepare shot and sequence lists.
- Pitch story angles.
- Storyboard, script, edit and narrate as needed.
- Write for all platforms (radio, TV and digital).
- Convey information through various means (news copy, clips, reports, social content, interviews, etc.).
- Deliver stories on air/on camera.
- Inform newsroom management of any event that warrants a news flash or special coverage.
- Ensure the availability of the resources required to produce your stories.
- Drive a news vehicle.
- Ensure your equipment is in proper working order, carrying out minor emergency repairs as needed.
- Research and work with stock footage and archival material.
- Carry out all other related tasks as needed.

**A) Qualifications**:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- Experience Three years journalism experience or equivalent.
**B) Competencies**
- Wide general knowledge.
- Excellent knowledge of current events.
- Solid command of the working language.
- Very good knowledge of the other official language.
- Strong understanding of audio, visual and digital storytelling techniques and interviewing techniques.
- Knowledge of video and editing techniques.
- Knowledge of CBC /Radio Canada’s Journalistic Standards and Practices.
- Proficiency with content management tools such as Wordpress and MPX.
- Good understanding of audio/video editing tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effects.
- Good knowledge of audio/video management systems such as Avid newscutter, Dalet Plus and Final Cut.
- Proficiency with social media management systems like Meta Business Suite and best practices as well as content creation tools like Canva.
