Municipal Sales Specialist

As the Municipal Specialist at John Brooks, you will be responsible for creating and developing relevant close contacts within all Municipal organizations in the territory as well as with the Consulting Engineering firms and Contractors that service their pumping operations. A key part of your job will be to learn of all pumps related projects in the territory, keep track of them, share the information with other team members and strategize to get our products specified and purchased
We provide you with local sales support and the opportunity to participate in cross-Canada teams to help develop market strategies for the division.
On any given day you will
- Spend time on the phone with or visiting customers in person to get to know them and their operations better, follow up on quotations and help to resolve any obstacles
- Do research to find out about new opportunities being planned for the territory
- Gain a deeper understanding of our products by studying training materials or consulting with our in-house product experts or our suppliers. Make sales calls with vendors or other John Brooks employees.
- Keep Sales Manager and other team members informed about customers and opportunities through meetings or by updating the customer database
- Plan trips and other activities to make the best use of available time with sales goals as a key priority
Essential qualifications
- You have a detailed knowledge of Municipalities - and hopefully a lot of contacts there - based on working for one or working for a Supplier, Contractor or Consultant that services them - for at least a couple of years
- You can introduce yourself and build productive business relationships with different types of people in different roles with existing and prospective customers
- You have the interest and capacity to become deeply knowledgeable about a wide range of technical products and systems
- You have strong initiative and can be productive working independently and know when to draw on available company resources when necessary. You strive to meet goals and meet deadlines
- Resident of B.C., preferably the Lower Mainland
Following would be important assets for this position:
- Experience with industrial or agricultural products - especially products in fluid handling
- Technical training or diploma/degree
- Presentation skills
