**Pathways Coach - City School**

Under the direction of the Manager, Community Access, Engagement, and Research, the incumbent performs duties associated with City School and other programs of Community Partnerships and Learning, including the development of print and electronic resources to support students as they navigate their educational and employment pathway options. The City School by Mohawk initiative provides a diversified learning model for students who experience barriers to education and employment, with an emphasis on person-centred approaches to programming and support.

The incumbent provides a high quality standard of service, recognizing the important role that life stabilization supports play in helping learners working towards education and employment. The incumbent is skilled in understanding and meeting the diverse needs of the adult learner population. This individual will work collaboratively with learners, staff, faculty, employers and community partners. The key responsibility of this position is to provided individual and small group support to prospective and current City School learners in their completion of the College Fundamentals Certificate. Key competencies for this position include: needs assessment including interviewing and focus group facilitation skills; coaching and mentoring; synthesizing and summarizing information; document creation (MS Office tools) including tools for student use and summary reports to program management.

**Responsibilities**:
The duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
**Assess the Needs of Individual Students (re: educational and career pathways)**
- ** **Conduct needs assessments (interviews, focus groups, surveys).
- Synthesize and summarize feedback from service providers.
- Prepare and present initial recommendations (print reports, oral presentations to stakeholders, team members, and management).

**Create Tools for Student Use**
- ** **Create print and electronic tools (narratives, flowcharts, decision-making trees, directories) to assist students in understanding and navigating educational and employment pathways to meet individual goals.
- Will involve the use of MS Office software or similar tools for desktop publishing, report creation, infographics, etc.

**Provide Individual and Small-Group Coaching and Mentorship**
- ** **Supporting learners in developing goals and action plans, and helping to identify resources and supports to facilitate goal attainment
- Advocate for service access and refer learners to appropriate services and programs both internal and external to the college

**Plan and Coordinate Events and Activities to Support Pathways Knowledge and Engagement**
- ** **Involves event planning (facilities bookings, ordering catering, preparing print and electronic materials).
- Marketing the events (social media promotions, creating flyers, etc.) and tracking responses and attendance.
- Follow-up with attendees.

**Reporting and Evaluation**
- ** **Collect and maintain data on employer engagement (co-curricular involvement, field placement opportunities, etc.).
- Collect and maintain data on student pathway plans, including progress and supports required.
- Produce reports for training specialist (project lead) and management that highlight successes and areas for development.

Other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**:

- A minimum of two year post-secondary in related fields of Business, Education, Social Work, Human Services, or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must have a minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experience working with diverse client/student groups.
- Demonstrated competence and experience working independently in a business and/or adult learning environment.
- Exceptional writing and communication skills; comfortable communicating with diverse audiences including adult learners from equity deserving groups, service providers, government representatives (e.g., OW and ODSP providers), and employers/industry.
- Basic understanding of career and pathway planning and adult learning theory.
